Having never been to an opticians before I had no idea what to expect..A brilliant, friendly and colourful atmosphere! The optician (Marco) is a medical wizard knowing specific detail such as diabetic related visual issues, obviously he is well experienced in the optical field. Would recommend to the entire of Brighton!

I love the Old market, If you come from London Rd on the right you can find this lil shop that sells meat&cheese. They have an amazing variety of italian and french cheese. The price are amazing.

I remember the old market which sadly was left to deteriorate. However the new market is great combing both traditional shops along with shops that reflects Brighton eclectic nature. One shop specialises in renting shelves to small scale producers who often produce a very small range of products including food, Eco stuff and other specialities. This allows newcomers to assess whether their product is marketable without committing to paying rent on a shop. I've tried the Greek cafe which is a delightful place to eat with it's up cycled interior. The food is good and it changes regularly it's menu. However you simply need to go here to appreciate this unique and quirky market.

Lots of different and unusual shops and stalls to browse in,I think there are over 30 shops and on a weekend up to 50 stalls The market has a lovely, friendly atmosphere, and if you like Greek you can have a special authentic meal.

The new Open Market is fantastic! There is a great mix of original traders and new stall holders and a really good feel to the place. Here you can find local veg, meat, bread, cake, ice cream, as well as books, antiques, clothes, toys, furniture, fabric, flowers, tea, homous, all things chilli, Spanish deli items, pet accessories, there's even somewhere to get your washing up refills. There is a locksmith, good food eateries plus some wonderful art studios with prints, glasswork, jewellery & more (make sure you pop upstairs to see these!). Saturdays are brilliant with lots of extra stalls and often a busker or two. The London Road area is improving, there are lots of good shops and cafes, I hope all the new businesses thrive!

Was really worried about how the new market would turn out. Its a real success , a fantastic mix of interesting Stalls. The best Butcher in Brighton, who I've been going to for years, please try them out, you will not be disappointed. Fresh, local, and great choice of products. Same with both cheese and egg stalls, veggies and an eclectic mix of cafes and boutique type shops. .FANTASTIC !

I love this market. It's close to home, I walk through it every day it's full of interesting stalls. Special events. The best butcher in Brighton. Good coffee. Excellent veg. Great community projects. I've seen apples being pressed for fresh juice, a bike powered Christmas Tree. I've had fresh sushi made for me, eaten amazing cupcakes and found a handmade birthday gift for my mum. This market is making the area I live in a destination to come to. Thank you Open Market!

Been coming to the open market since a child. It's recent refurb has made this hidden treasure of London Road a treat to visit.

I hadn't visited the market since it re-opened and I'm glad i went down. Its great for general groceries and perfect for gifts. I particularly liked the wooden gift shop, have bought several gifts for family and friends from here - beautiful. Also some great clothes stalls, jewellery etc, its not just your standard market! Would highly recommend a visit.

When the Open Market was due for modernisation, my fear was that it'd be wall to wall goji berries and hemp woven dream catchers. But the end result is wonderful, and put paid to my cynicism. It's everything Brighton should be and used to be, but somehow forgot over the years in its endless drive for gluten free cupcakes and London money. My favourites are the cheese shops that always have something new in, the friendliness of the traders and the variety of things they have on there (particularly at weekends). And to top it all, there's a guy that sells comic books and Dr Who merchandise!

Creative, independent, heart n soul :-) I love Smorl's humous and salad bar for great value and delicious good quality lunch. Shaboutique makers collective for upcycled goodies. The Foodshed for championing local groups and the Herbal Apothecary for good advice and quality products. Fantastic to see independent shops supporting each other, making the Open Market a great original place to shop.

Just to say a great venue in the dry too. There are toilets in the south west corner under the stairs to the first floor studios. Very clean and suitable for baby changing and disabled.
