What a superb insight in to the history of policing.To some of the adapted weapons that have been seized, to how cramped the cell blocks were. Offenders get off lightly these days!The staff, all with experience in the job, have so much knowledge and tell their stories in a way that shows they enjoy what they do.I read some reviews before going and thought it may be more for the kids but my partner and I came out really pleased we went.All for free! (but you can leave a donation for the help these guys give.)

People who were working were so kind to guide us and told us about the history. I fell like I was in the early of 1900 as well! I've really enjoyed and I'll come again to visit. All free!

Staff were very helpful and full of information which they passed on voluntarily and enthusiastically . Only open on a Tuesday so we were very pleased we managed to visit it during our mini-break.

I thoroughly enjoyed the couple of hours there with my grandchildren. There were plenty of interesting exhibits and the staff were enthusiastic and informative. It came as huge disappointment however to learn that two of Englands most notorious crimes committed by the Moors murderers and Dr Shipman did not warrant even a mention. Somebody not in touch with what the public expect has apparently deemed it would be insensitive to feature those crimes. Nonsense. Surely the core purpose of a museum is to educate visitors and I am certain the victims families would not want the horrendous crimes to be forgotten, consigned to a storeroom.

Good fun and free. Get your fingerprint on a key ring for a donation. Knowledgable staff. Small but well worth a visit.

Went with a friend and 3 boys ages 4-6. Greeted at the door by an officer who tested how well behaved the boys were and gave a great explanation of how to get the best out of the visit. The staff were excellent, the boys loved the exhibits, particularly dressing in uniform and being shut in the cells, we were lucky enough to also be offered the chance to sit in the driving seat of a brand new police car too. The officers were really friendly and engaged the children! The shop at the end is priced reasonably for pocket money recipients to get something good for not too much. All in all a super experience.

Only small but a fab couple of hours. All the volunteers (dressed in old uniform) were so helpful and keen to answer any question the children had. The charging desk was really interesting as was the old cells. Can't believe we've never been before!!

great way to spend a Tuesday afternoon my grandson loved it. plenty of hands on stuff for him to do ,but also a gret insight in to policeing through the ages

Fascinating visit that was well presented by knowledgable staff. Great that its interactive and you can step back in time to see how our police forces have changed through the decades.

it was a great insight in the history of Policing in Greater Manchester. The Police Museum is very close to Piccadilly Gardens which is in the centre of the city. I think it is only open one or two days a week so best to check so you are not disappointed.

This former police station is only about 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly Gardens. It is mainly staffed by very friendly and helpful former police personnel who will take time to explain the significance of each exhibit. Many of the displays are extremely unusual. They include the door from Strangeways Prison broken down during the riots and the implements used. The old cells and charge desk are original so you can imagine the feelings of former "guests." You can also pretend to be the accused in the court room. There is sure to be something of interest for everyone.

Had such a lovely visit. we were not expecting to go along, but were beckoned in by one of the friendly police officers. Was so lovely or my son (4) to get to chat to the police officers and to have a ride on the bikes, operate the camera in the car. Can't stress enough how friendly everyone was, great atmosphere and a little gem to visit

We came across this museum as we were walking around. It is only open on Tuesdays so we were lucky. Very interesting and volunteers were friendly and helpful.

Had a lovely afternoon, and it was free to enter. Lots of things to see, and the staff were really good with the children letting them touch, and try on hats etc. ours really enjoyed it

only open on tuesdays, but free, a good insight into policing in the area over the past 100 years.all free, top it off with the football museum and science and indusrty museum for a great day out
