The rum cocktail ordered by my bestie to me for my birthday yesterday was super duper cool with flames on top of 2 slices of lime. It was pretty strong but it was nice to taste and drink slowly while chatting with my friends on my birthday night!!
I took my girlfriend to cocktail making classes for her birthday and it was an amazing experience. Joe the barman was great, easy to chat to and really enthusiastic. He even rose to my challenge of turning a caperin
As a Raouls veteran I felt compelled to write a review after lesser experiences elsewhere. To give credit where it's due so to speak. Raouls is a small but perfectly formed cocktail bar located in the heart of the vibrant Jericho district of Oxford. Super knowledgeable and passionate staff who are always welcoming, superb cocktails (the bar made the Times Top 100 list for cocktail bars worldwide), stylish decor and great atmosphere, it really is a little hidden treasure. We miss Alex and Ruairidh but this does not lessen the appeal of my favourite bar bar none. I've hosted a couple of birthdays there and suffice to say there were many smiling faces on the night and sore heads the following day. 11/10!!
My wife and I went to the 'cocktail perverts' cocktail making lesson on a Wednesday evening and had an amazing time. Joe, our instructor for the evening, was great fun and really knowledgeable about his spirits. I would really recommend this experience to anyone and such great value for money! Just wish we could have spent more time there and didn't have to get back for the babysitter...
Wonderful atmosphere, attentive friendly service to the table that didn't put a foot wrong, tremendous attention to detail, great skill. There are cocktail offerings everywhere these days, but this is artwork.
Visited Raouls last weekend whilst on a hen do and we were all so impressed by the amazing cocktails! Had a superb section of cocktails, each one was unique and tasted delicious. The staff were so friendly and chatty, gave us discounts and were always happy to make a cocktail just to our liking. The place was very cozy and you could enjoy a conversation without thudding music in the background. Very reasonable priced cocktails and beautifully presented. Well worth a visit if you're in Oxford!
The menu, bar and cocktails are amazing! There is sooo many to choose from, So so good! Prices range from £6-£9 a drink so a little pricey but well worth it!
Incredible selection on the menu, and the staff are always happy to make you something off-menu - my favourite drink of theirs sadly disappeared from their menu a few years ago - though woe-betide you if you ask for a Long Island Iced Tea! Forget cocktails you've had anywhere else, they were poor imitations; these are the real thing. My personal favourites: mulatta daiquiri, white chocolate martini, violet martini, indian summer... I thought I didn't like cocktails until I tried these! Oh, and the bar snacks are amazing too... if a little pricey.
I've been meaning to visit for more than a year now and finally stopped by last night. Having read the reviews and knowing it'd get crowded later on, we went pre-dinner at around 5pm and thankfully it had yet to fill up and we easily got a seat. The ambience was nice and the music not too loud to hinder talking, but the highlight had to be the drinks. The bartenders were all very friendly and really knew their stuff, which was very helpful because I didn't know half the alcohol on the menu. I had a Level 42 first, which was lovely and citrusy. But what really made an impression was my second drink, a Rum Shack Sweet Shop. I was told it was possibly "the sweetest drink they make", and it was immensely enjoyable right from the caramelised marshmallow topping to the last drop. Was surprised to find myself a bit tipsy after just two cocktails and was told that they do put a good amount of alcohol into their drinks, which was more than other places do during their happy hours. When waiting to pay at the bar I also got the chance to witness a few cocktails being made - some of them truly amazing to watch (think blow torch, fire, and sparkles) and I regret not being able to see more. All in all, very good stuff and I will definitely return and recommend.
A group of us (6 girls) went to Raoul's for a cocktail making class and we had the best time. We had the whole of the downstairs area to ourselves and made our cocktails behind the bar. The cocktails are great. Two of us weren't drinking so we made non-alcoholic cocktails which were just as amazing and great fun to make. Joe was the guy instructing us and he was brilliant, he really made our visit special, he was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable in his field. We got 30% off all cocktails for the rest of the evening, we had two more cocktails each after the session and probably would've stayed longer had we not made other arrangements to be somewhere else.
Went for cocktails before going on to dinner. Arrived at 7.30 and the bar was already very busy. Did eventually manage to get a seat, but be aware that the bar is very small and so you may have to stand for a while before getting somewhere to perch. The cocktails were good, especially those with fresh fruit and berries and the menu has lots of choice. The main issue is that you can only order at the bar and so you have to queue up at the crowded bar, attract the attention of the bar tender who is making about 10 cocktails all in row, get them to find a pen and a piece of paper and write down your order before they then return to the cocktails they were making. It's a great spectacle, but in practice it meant that I spent half an hour ordering a drink standing on my own at the bar and my friend sat on her own at our table in the corner waiting for me to come back. We then waited 10 mins for the cocktails to be made which is fine - you expect some time for that, but why cant the staff who are clearing tables & wiping down write down an order and carry it 3 feet to the staff behind the bar?? This simple change would make the whole thing so much better and would have meant that we could have spent more time enjoying our drinks and talking, as opposed to queueing and sitting on our own!
We went to Raoul's for just a quick cocktail before going on to St Giles Cafe for a meal.It was perfect. We just planned on having one cocktail each, but we ended up having two each !Felt a bit woozy on the way out, but definitely worth it.The bar was packed, even at 6pm. All in all, 10/10.
Brilliant cocktails with huge menu that's too long to read all of it. Cocktails very good, some very unusual liqueurs in use. Seeing the bartenders make them is very cool, they looked more talented than at other places. Bar is very short though. Not too much seating, be prepared to wait. They do cocktail jugs in watering cans which is relatively good value and a bit fun. Prices around £8-£10/cocktail so normal or a littl ehgiher than normal.
I've been to my fair share of London cocktail bars and this one in Oxford rates among the highest. Amazing cocktail menu and staff are able to offer suggestions or deviate from the menu based on your favourite spirits. The place was busy and it took awhile to get a drink but it was well worth it.
Having had an amazing day we stumbled on this amazing chill out cocktail bar with the most varied amount of cocktails we had ever seen. All made with a smile just added to an amazing night!
