Our first visit to this theatre which has three floors we visited The McCarthy room to watch this well told story of Scarboroughs bombing during the 2nd world war. Alot of talent on the stage which really moved me. The building & staff welcoming and beautiful inside. We will definitely go to another shout. Thanks for a great evening with the outreach theatre company and Scarborough Museum.

Spent a lovely Sunday afternoon listening to the Hammond Saltaire brass band. I've been numerous times to this great theatre and seen many productions but this is the first time I've been to hear this band. The band is made up of extremely talented musicians, many of whom are quite young. The theatre in the round really lends itself to this type of production and the enthusiasm of the band really put a smile on the faces of the packed house. Will definitely go again next January when they make their annual visit.

Stephen Joseph gave me my first job in the theatre. It was then that I first met Alan Ayckbourn, whom I hold in great respect since he has preserved Stephen's name, heritage and ideas. There is no better way to remember Stephen than by visiting this wonderful theatre. Best see see a show - any show! If you have limited time, just go and have a coffee and a snack and a look round the exhibits in the foyer of this former picture house, itself an excellent piece of conservation.

Have always wanted to go to the SJT and see something at the 'theatre in the round' there, but on this occasion it was not to be, oh well, maybe next time. As we live some distance away our only opportunity is a couple of times a year when we stay at our favourite haunt of Robin Hood's Bay. However, we did have a fabulous night, the Art Deco building itself is beautiful and I was interested to see photographs of all the other buildings designed by the same architect, I hope they have all survived. The production, My Perfect Mind was an excellent fusion of King Lear and biography of actor Edward Petherbridge, one of the only two actors in the play alongside Paul Hunter. I am not overly familiar with King Lear, but the play was quirky, funny and original.

As a great admirer of Alan Ayckbourn, I was unavoidably very keen to visit the theatre where most of his plays have been created, especially as I was going to see his latest work. It is lovely little theatre, with the audience sitting on four sides. If that makes things slightly more difficult for the director who has to keep in mind that the audience is on all sides, and therefore has to make sure that the actors are positioned in such a way that they don't always have their back turned to the same members of the audience, it provides an intimate experience for the theatre goer. The size and sitting plan also means that all seats will have an excellent view of the action, as well as being only a short distance from the stage.

An excellent afternoon out. A good romp ''ON THE PISTE'' play set in the French Alps with all the nuances of a Whitehall farce. Poorly attended matinee deserves a better audience. Well worth seeing

Okay, I admit I have a vested interest in writing this review, but I have visited the SJT on a number of occasions in the past and always found it an fab evening out.On this occasion, I had a 15-min play read out, along with six of my playwright colleagues, as part of a one-off evening entitled Plays & Pinot. It was a sell-out evening during which seven plays were read out by a number of SJT actors. The ticket price of just £5 (including a drink) was excellent. You'd be hard-pressed to find an evening's entertainment for such a good price. The plays were read out in the restaurant, with its art deco decor, fabulous windows and comfy seats. While I was a nervous as a kitten, and hardly dared hope that my play was at least 'okay', I am sure the audience enjoyed all that was offered to them, as the variety of the subject matter was vast, with a common theme of 'Scarborough Out of Season'.Thanks to everyone who attended and to all the SJT staff and of course to our writing tutor. It was a fab night!

An excellent theatre, we visit regularly. It has the advantage of seeing Sir Alan's plays and often the man himself as he tweaks them for London

I spend a lot of time abroad but my first thing to do on my return is to check what is on at both theatre and cinema at Stephen joseph. It is such a friendly place for a night out.Even if you are alone.
