Booked seats in the Dress Circle but found the stairs difficult as there is no lift. Beautiful theatre
Great theatre which can be relied on th include shows/plays on their way to or from London which is brilliant for Bath tourists and those of us living in the South West.
We went to see Rebecca expecting a traditional murder mystery type performance. What we got was amazing - music, comedy, drama and more from an amazing cast. Top notch. The theatre itself is a beautiful building, harking back to its glorious past. Leg room a little tight as expected, but being such a small theatre moving around was no problem and all entrances/exits were well signed. Really well staffed and the whole system runs really smoothly. Looking to go again at the end of the month to see Joseph. Watch for the pillars though as some stall seats have restricted viewing.
One of those in Bath things to do, if the performances align with your fancy ( and even better if you do not have parking costs in Bath) Arrive without the car, walk, cycle, bus, train, taxi etc...
The Theatre Royal feels like a step back in time. Its gorgeous. The auditorium is compact and has an intimate atmosphere. Its beautifully restored with a spectacular chandelier. My only criticism is the lack of leg room and the odd pillar which can be restricting .
An absolute gem of a theatre and we were so lucky to see the first night of a world premiere of a new set of Ayckbourn short plays - directed by the Author.Even luckier as we'd won the two tickets in a raffle!
Myself and my Mother visited Bath this weekend and went to watch the Nutcracker at the Theatre Royal. We both thought that the theatre was beautiful and the staff were extremely helpful. We were sat in the Grand Circle in Seats C1 & C2 - and the view was just perfect, we could see the stage very clearly and didn't feel like we were a great distance from the stage at all.I would most definitely recommend visiting.
Always a delight to visit the Theatre Royal. Bath is a magic place anyway and its theatre is very much part of that. The auditorium and stage are big enough to host major productions and yet you never feel distant from the action on the stage. The recent refurbishment means it has good modern facilities even though you are in a building over 200 years old. The seats are comfortable and with decent legroom. Just been to see Calamity Jane which was superb and hugely enjoyable. I am a regular visitor and happily make the 90 minute each way drive in the confidence that the journey will be well worth it.
Went to see calamity Jane with Jodie Prodger, great little show.Theatre easy to get to , good seating with leg room, which is great in an old building .need to check for what's on. Can book on Internet and they will send tickets, ring if you want to pick up at box office .
Went to see Cinderella in bath it was a very good pantomime the ugly sister were so funny and all the cast were really good. My daughters and I really enjoy the show it well worth going to see
I love this magical theatre - a much overused word but The Theatre Royal Bath deserves it. Just to be there is a joy. As soon as you open the glass and wood framed doors the electric excitement begins. The interior is breathtakingly beautiful and recently renovated at great cost so don't baulk at the price of any ticket - and importantly you get very good views up in the Grand Circle -where it is very reasonable and like all floors being "in the Gods" does not mean you far to go for a bar, and if like me you don't drink alcohol, no problem - coffee etc to hand served by very smart barmen - haven't seen a barmaid for a while - but all the helpers throughout the Theatre are all very professional and friendly = well it is Bath!! I have had the pleasure over many years of seeing some of the best productions ever - and many start here before going to the West End. I could go on for hours about one of England's gems of Theatrical productions - but just go. Get hold of one of their excellent booklets on upcoming shows and productions - Moscow City Ballet, Tom Stoppard's Arcadia, Peter Pan Goes Wrong,, Hairspray, Rebecca, Twelve Angry Men and more!!! Also - time permitting - visit the Ustinov Theatre - a smaller studio theatre - but my goodness what a line up for the New - to our discredit we went for the first time this year - definitely going again! And the egg for young ones - not been being an old-un! I gather from reliable sources is just excellent and award winning. I cannot overpraise this wonderful Theatre - I have been to so many over time and some excellent ones too - ceratinly excellent performances - we are blessed with some of the greatest actors in the World without doubt - just try Stratford any time for proof of absolute excellence and devotion - RSC is quite wonderful. But back to this lovely enveloping theatre - you won't want to leave! The perfect size - it embraces you like a jealous lover! There are restuarants galor within easy reach - and their own Vaults Restaurant etc Pick up the phone and find out more 01225 448844/ Website www.theatreroyal.org.uk / and choose a performance or more so you can be captivated by a live performance in a perfectly formed and intimate theatre. a.k.a Michael Brightman, author, The Mystery Factor ebook
First visit to this Theatre (second time seeing Frank this year) not much to add that hasn't already been said, we were high up in the Gods, good view and sound, drinks are rather pricey, £4.50 for a bottle of Bath Ale, stewards very helpful and friendly, an enjoyable night out overall, and situated opposite Schwartz Bros Burgers for a tasty snack afterwards.
Although the theatre was very comfortable and nice the Wooster and Jeeves production was awful. We had our drinks at the interval then left.
An exciting visit to the Ustinov. Our first in the studio theatre but certainly not our last. Whilst we have visited the main theatre on occasion in the past, we were very impressed by the excellent sightlines in the smaller theatre and the close relationship between the actors and the audience. Fairly priced, we hope the new studio theatre being built in our home city Portsmouth is as good.
went to see a comedy at this wonderful theatre in Bath. The theatre itself is a well maintained Victorian building full of charm and old fashioned grandeur. The ushers are helpful and the seats are comfortable, I have been here a couple of times and no matter where you are seated you have a great view of the stage as the theatre is compact and well designed. Here you can enjoy red plush seats and crystal chandeliers ,a quiet drink in the bar or delicious ice cream in the interval.
