A charming garden which is perfect on a fine day to enjoy your sandwiches. In early March there is not much to see, but in Spring and summer it will be a delightful spot when the roses are out. Typically orderly and clean in true Dutch style.
Although I was there in winter and didn't even get to see flowers. HOWEVER the gardens are arranged beautifully and have a special taste when covered by the winter frost. I loved this place and I'm hopeful to be there in summer.
it is a magical place where you can feel good with every one. iwas there during spring so it was amazing to lay on grass and enjoy the sky
It is a nice garden to go and relax in spring/summer but during the winter it is not worth it. Also not too many flowers, quite small.
Prinsenhof Gardens were one of my favorite spots during summer! Of course they're more beautiful and greener during spring compared to the cold winters. Don't expect a huge walk though... Probably it's 5-10 minutes around the gardens.Don't skip the tea house in the gardens!!! It's so quiet and just in the middle of the city! Try the vanilla tsai latte! Amazing!
We found this garden by chance while out walking along the canal. It's like the secret garden. Beautiful flowers, roses and lavender which you could smell while walking through. There is a small green where a few tables are set out among the trees. There is a little cafe selling soup, toasties and beautiful cheesecake and custard tart. Great way to pass an hour on a nice day.
Really nice green place to stay quiet in the middle of the city. Better to be visited during summer or spring in order to enjoy the green of the place in its best moment.
It looks small from outside, but once you're in you can wander in the maze-like structure for about an hour. There's also a cafe.
This is one of Groningen's treasure troves, a beautifuly designed garden on the premises of a former Queen's Counsillor. The garden looks splendid and smells splendid, because of our the flowers, beautifully arranged. On the walled entrance there is a very beautiful sundial. There is an opportunity sitting outside and make use of the tea, coffee, icecream. lunch and wine and beer facilities, which is a very joyful thing thing to in Spring, Summer and early Autumn. It faces the new restaurant and hotel which looks out on the garden and has the reputation of being chosen by our King and Queen when they visit town. The immediate surroundings of this garden are all old and historic. If you vist Groningen, and have not visited this, you have not seen Groningen! A must see!
Nice grounds located within the premises of Prinsenhof hotel, on a nice sunny day you can take nice photos of the surroundings.
We were staying at the hotel and had a room over looking these gardens. Wandering around these gardens is lovely. There are impressive archways and beautifully manicured gardens. Worth a visit.
Yes, it's just a park. But it's also the old garden of the adjacent palace, in which nowadays the best hotel in town resides. It has a pitoresque "theeschenkerij", where you can enjoy modest drinks. It's an oasis in the hart of the city, a place where one can't be without wondering how life must have been for those allowed here in former days. And it hosts the greatest dutch poetry festival each year, "Dichters in de Prinsentuin".
This a great free attraction in the centre of Groningen. Beautifully maintained and colourful formal gardens where you can stroll or sit with a coffee.
This is a fragrant, romantic and colourful jewel of a garden, well worth a visit if you're in the area. It's not large so it won't take long if you're short of time. Visit the cafe and linger longer if you can.
I love this little garden. A wonderful Sunday morning walk. The roses are blooming and the walk around the garden is so relaxing. There is also a little cafe open even on Sunday morning if you'd like to set and relax.
