I think u cannot miss this.. And even if u do, u dont miss that much.. may be it looks nicer in the evening wi th the lights, but sunny afternoon was not much fun..
Nice old bridge, but not much to see there. Take a river cruise is much nicer and eat some " vlaai" a local pie mostly with fruit.
Coming from the station and hotels in that area you would be unwise not to use this ancient bridge. It is one of the city's great landmarks and is woven into the fabric of the place
built by the Romans. Watch for liberation markers (30th Infantry-Old Hickory) on bridge (and throughout the city)
The bridge offers a very good view of the Maas, the centrum and parts of Maastricht at any time of the day
Convenient way to cross the river to the other side of the city without the nuisance of cars. Great opportunities for photos from the bridge. Straight line to/from Central Station.
This iconic bridge is super cool to see for more than one reason. The bridge is very pedestrian and cycling friendly, as are most roads in The Netherlands, and has a spectacular 360 view of the river Maas and the town. We visited Maastricht for New Year's Eve 2014 and stood on the bridge to watch the best amateur fireworks show I have ever seen. This event is a must see!!!
You must take a few minutes to walk across this bridge and admire the views. It's beautiful, free, and the image of Maastricht everyone has to get when they're in town.
Great view of the river and the old part of the cit. It's in the end of the street and 5 minutes from the main Maas station.
The bridge as other reviews mentioned are not a big deal in itself as a structure, modernised and extended, but the views from it are awesome. One way or another you will be close to it if you are in the city, definitely it's worth taking extra few steps to cross it and enjoy those scenes.
this arched stone footbridge is one of the oldest in the Netherlands, named after the city's first bischop. At sunset it is the perfect romantic spot, also great spot for taking pictures of different districts of Maastricht. At the end of the bridge, toward the city center you can find a tourist shop with souvenirs and postcard as well as a tiny ice-cream booth.
lovely view of the great river Maas. romantic and quiet and enjoyment. shops are very nice next to the bridge
There is a few bridges that cross the Maas but this is the one that offers the best views for photos of both the new and old town. Also an interesting history around the bridge and it's troubled history
It is quite correct to say that this is a bridge and when you're on it is not anything special apart from being a good place to get between the old town and the bus/railway station across the river. It is said to be the oldest bridge but has been extensively restored/rebuilt and extended. The main attraction is the view - nice riverside vistas plus any craft on the water. You do not need to make a special trip to see it but will probably use it anyway and can enjoy the views then.
This bridge is not that special, actually. However, you can make a photo of it from afar. Also you can see nice scenes of Maastricht from there.
