You can spend a Nice many Horus in this quiet but very nicely decoratief garden. Eitjes Buy a snack in the restaurant or take Some snacks and water with you. There even is a second garden across the road (you could think you'te the only one in the garden)
Rather than a botanics it reminded me of a private garden/estate which had been opened to the public. Note if going the second garden at the back where you scan your ticket in and out. Lovely oasis in rotterdam as much of rotterdam is sculpture and city. Good clean toilets. The Hut was very reasonably priced tea and amazing apple pie. Peaceful.and highlight of trip. Would return if back in the city.
Very beautiful designed botanic garden. Worth visiting in every season. Lovely teahouse (with only short opening hours, which is a pity)
My girlfriend and I visited in June 2014 and, whilst we did enjoy the visit, we didn't find it as amazing as the reviews suggested it to be. At €6.50 each, we didn't really get anything more out of it than a few pretty pictures. It really was lovely to walk around, but we didn't find the experience much different from any of the other (free) gardens we've been to.
If you like to see brides, come here on a friday afternoon ;-) It's a parc with all kinds of trees and flowers.
What a magnificent garden! We were there when the rhodos and azaleas were peaking. If you are a real garden enthusiast you will truly appreciate the planning that went into this Eden. The sheep add to the feeling of serenity. Specimen trees throughout the arboretum.
Went with my family. We all enjoyed the great variety of beautiful plants. Very tidy, nicely looked after with care. The kids liked the turtoises that sat along the small canal. Nice smells of spring and newly cut grass. A cosy stroll in beautiful surroundings.
I've been a visitor of the Arboretum Trompenburg for many years. I absolutely love this place. It has grown in size over the years. The best time to visit? In may-june, when al the Rhododendrons and Azalea's are flowering. But it is a cleansing experience any time of the year!
The collection is presented on a large park with lots of waterways, ponds and canals. The plots of land are connected by bridges and the atmosphere is very green and tranquil. From april through october there is interest in both flower and berry ,may and june are especially lush.Glasshouse with succulents and fuchia collection, lots of birdlife and even american swamp turtles.Nearby "Hof-laan" has an impressive mix of dutch 18th, 19th,early 20th century architecture.
Even in the middle of winter it is well worth visiting this place. An exotic variety of shapes and colours can be found on an amazing collection of pine trees and other evergreens. The hostas are not visible at this time, but there is plenty to keep the observant interested and plenty of space to simply drift around in peaceful surroundings. If you are at all interested in plants and/or you are tired of being dragged around the endless shopping streets of Rotterdam, this is a must! I will have to come back in spring. The gift shop is a bit expensive and the tearoom was shut.
Rarely to find in a busy city like Rotterdam to see such a nice quiet and peaceful place!! Amazing and lovely to get away for a while, or for couple hours. Not expensive at all, you just have to pay less than 10 euro's per person. Worthy to relax yourself here
Just spent a few hours at the arboretum and it was lovely. only costs 6,25 eur per person and it is very good value as you can easily spend some hours there. very relaxing atmosphere, nice staff, they even have small birds!
Very pretty gardens with well maintained greenery. Nice area for a coffe or a cup of tea.In spring lovely Rhododendrons and later in the year an enormous collection of Hosta's on display.
Something to see all the year round. Peace and tranquility in a busy city. Well maintained.Plenty of places to sit and enjoy
In a busy city like Rotterdam it's a really nice quiet and peacefull place to get away for a couple of hours. Not expensive as far as I remeber. Less than 10 euro's per person.
