I discovered Figueira da Foz and Figueira Surf Centre by chance, when looking for a spot not too far from Porto in 2010. ..and return twice a year since then :-)Why? First of all, Chrissy and Filipe are great surfing teachers. Most important for them is that everybody learns how to feel confident and act safe in the water. Beside, they are always with you in the waves, giving hints, encouraging you to go for each possible wave. If you're a beginner, you will feel safe with them and learn a lot. If you're already experienced, you'll get good hints and the opportunity to surf great spots.Waiting for waves is never boring, when chatting about surfing and having a nice coffee and pastry in one of the little cafes. Often after an exhausting surf, we went directly for lunch or dinner, having delicious fresh fish. Not to forget the gigantic ice creams in Buarcos!Spots around Figueira are great: not crowded, nearly always one with a wave, maximum paddle out ~ 600m.So, do not hesitate, just book! :-D

I had a great time in fiquera during Oktober at the surfcamp. With the good teachers Chrissy and Filipe I enjoyed the lessons and the nice surfspots they showed me. I was surprised by the delicious and cheap food in fiquera! I'll go there soon as possible again!

Great staff with an enormous amount of patience and commitment to surfer wannabees like myself.I recommend Figueira Surf Center to everyone wanting to learn how to surf without getting hurt. Imagine two experienced surfers, who are passionate, super organised, loaded with equipment to suit all shapes and sizes and will basically dedicate their time to showing you how to surf morning noon and night depending where the conditions are best then that is what you get. The groups are only up to 7 people with 2 instructors which is amazing. They will do anything for you pretty much to make you happy in the water and all they ask for is enthusiasm. If you want to learn quickly, efficiently in the best places and to have fun then book it. I can’t wait to go back to see Filipe and Chrissie at the surf school. THEY ROCK!

I have been meaning to learn to surf for ages but only got to it this summer. And you know what, I think I chose very well. Felipe & Christie were really good and we were taken to different kind of beaches and saw different kinds of waves which was really instructive. Felipe teaches you the more important basics like how not to drown or how to get out there etc. Since my boyfriend and I did the week's surfcamp in Figueira, we have indeed seen these are the most important things many surfers don't get to learn until much later. And trust me, it is a scary sport, you do want to know stuff like this. I feel confident to get out in the water by myself now and will definitely seek to surf as much as I can in the future (hopefully again this summer!). Also, the beaches are really quiet and that we liked. I am highly recommending.

Never been much of a surfer and broke my head in the process learning alone in crowded spots. Decided to get a couple of lessons this time! Makes all the difference when you get some good useful professional help. Couldn't believe, awesome waves breaking early in the morning and we were the only ones in the water,... sweet. Just wish I could stay longer.Thanks for your tips Chrissy and Felipe ;)PS: Highly recommend after surf ice cream (with everything on it). They know what I'm talking about ;)

Just wish I could have stayed longer than a weekend. Never surfed before but now I'm stoked. The surf lessons were awesome and the summer crowds on the beach were no were to be seen. Highly recommend surf, sun and a Super Bock in Figueira de Foz.Thanks a million, see you next spring ;)

Wer ernsthaft surfen möchte, ist bei Filipe und Chrissy goldrichtig. Filipe geht mit ins Line Up und gibt nach jedem Ritt Feedback und Tipps. So lernt man in kurzer Zeit sehr, sehr viel. Außerdem bringt er einem alles bei, was man braucht um unabhängig und sicher surfen zu gehen. Vom Bewerten der Strömungen über Lesen der Wellen bis hin zum richtigen Frühstück. Das ist übrigens bio, alles frisch, viel Obst und selbst gemachte Tomaten(!)marmelade von Filipes Großmutter. Es gibt sehr schöne, kleine Restaurants in der Umgebung mit Lokalkolorit und wunderbare Fischgerichte. Morgens gefangen, mittags gegessen. Außerdem muss noch der Metzger in Buarcos erwähnt werden, der das feinste Rindersteak in exakt der richtigen Dicke schneidet. Auch noch wichtig: Mavericks, der Hase vom Surfcamp. Seine Lieblingsmahlzeit sind Steuerunterlagen. Ich war 2 Wochen da und hätte liebend gern noch um eine weitere Woche verlängert.

wer wirklich surfen lernen will, ist hier an der richtigen Adresse!!, die Surf WG ist freundlich eingerichtet, die Zimmer sind sehr sauber, das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und auch Sonderwünsche werden berücksichtigt!(alles was aufgetischt wird ist saisonal und frisch/ Bio), ich bin denk eher ein kritischer Mensch, aber das hat mich überzeugt! ;-)

Wir waren zwei Wochen da. Wellenreiten ist geil! Es ging surftechnisch richtig zur Sache. Es wird viel Wert darauf gelegt wirklich Wellenreiten zu lernen um zukünftig eben selbstständig surfen zu können. Die Surflehrer sind supernett und kompetent. Das selbstgemachte Frühstück jeden Morgen ist ebenfalls der Hammer. Yoga war eine gute und witzige Abwechslung.Erwähnenswert ist ebenfalls die superfrische portugisische Küche in Figueira (und dabei auch sehr günstig). Vor allem der am Morgen noch im Atlantik geschwommene Fisch schmeckt fabelhaft auf dem Mittagstisch :-) yummy yummy

Nunca pensei ir aprender surf aos 36, mas la fomos 4 trintões... Entender o mar, fazer bem e em segurança e ir a várias praias... Os profs são 5 estrelas! Agora até no inverno vamos! Boas ondas!

Super dygtig underviser og god oplevelse for begynder og øvede. Fantastisk søde mennesker. Kan klart anbefales om man rejser som par, venner eller alene.

Eine spontane Aktion hat uns auf unserer Reise durch Portugal in das Surf Center geführt. Es war eine super Zeit im Figueira, doch leider konnten wir nur einen Tag surfen gehen da wir weiter reisen mussten....Aber wir kommen sicher wieder zurück, um das surfen richtig zu lernen!!

Leider hatten wir nur einen Tag das Vergnügen mit den beiden zum Strand zu fahren, dennoch lernten wir eine Menge übers surfen. Wir waren Anfänger und hatten zwei Wochen zuvor weiter südlich an der portugiesischen Küste ein wenig "gesurft", das heißt wir wurden in ein paar kleine Wellen geschupst, konnten auch einige Erfolgserlebnisse verbuchen, aber leider nicht eigenständig ins Meer zum üben. So läuft das bei Filipe nicht, hier fängt man bei 0 an und lernt selber Verantwortung zu übernehmen im Meer. Das Brett selber kontrollieren, sich und andere nicht in Gefahr bringen und ein Gefühl für den richtigen Moment bekommen sind die ersten Schritte. Das stehen bleiben auf dem Brett kommt dann nachher "wie von alleine, das ist was natürliches" ;) Filipe erzählte uns viel übers surfen und wie er es gelernt hat. Chrissy hilft zusätzlich mit guten Anfänger Tipps und macht zwischendurch Fotos. Die beiden machen das mit Geduld, Leidenschaft und guter Laune, es macht einfach Spaß von ihnen zu lernen! Absolut empfehlenswert für Anfänger und Fortgeschrittene würde ich sagen :)
