At Plaza of San Bartolome 2,24700 Astorga, Leon-Castile-Leon, you can enjoy this Roman Museum, as a part of Spain/España, Rome culture history. Not a big one but also interesting. History from xv to xviii century. Really 2000 years of history.It's just a part of a 2 cultures routes. One is the French route (Way of Saint James); other one is Silver route (Asturias)Different objects talks you about way of life in that place an time.

It's only a small collection, but it's well organised and run and very interesting. Modern, light and spacious, lots of variety, with a friendly person on the desk who puts on the introductory video. (If possible, she puts it on in a language you'll understand). The labels on the exhibits are mostly in Spanish, but the meaning's usually possible to guess when the object it's talking about's in front of you. Only one had me stumped, then I realised it meant "ear wax removers"!

There is a combination ticket with the Roman Museum and the Museum of Chocolate. It is a good value. The Roman museum has an excellent introductory film and displays. Afterwards be sure to walk down the street to the excavation of a Roman villa. the mosaics in situ are extraordinary.

I'm surprised that no-one reviewed this already, given that Astorga is very proud of the Roman roots. The museum is fairly small, but quite interesting. There is a short leaflet in English, but most of what you see is either in Spanish or Latin.......there is also an audio visual display, which to honest is dreadful, with the worst English translation I've ever seen. But at least they've tried to bring Roman history to life. It's not the biggest museum, but at least they try.In addition to the museum, there are other small Roman sites around the town. There is the remnants of the forum (pile of stones), the remains of a villa, with a good mosaic, some sewers (better than it sounds) and then the remains of a marching camp slightly outside the town. Add these together and you get quite a nice collection of Roman remains in the town. It's a nice alternative to the normal endless procession of churches and cathedral and I recommend a quick trip there. You can buy a joint ticket with the museum of chocolate, so I think they try to push it that way.

Como complemento a la Catedral y Palacio, este museo bien organizado muestra restos arqueológicos hallados en esta maravillosa ciudad

Astorga hat viele Sehenswürdigkeiten aus der romanischen Epoche, viele alte historische Gegenstände und Ausstellungen wechseln laufend in dem Museum. Ein Besuch ist fast ein muss. Der Eintritt kostet 2,50 Euro und dafür sieht man in eine schöne Vergangenheit die wunderbar ausgestellt ist.

Lo mas fabuloso es la colección de monedas de todas las epocas que siguen demostrando la importancia de esta ciudad desde la epocoa prerrománica

Si excepcionalmente se forma un grupo grande, el guia te enseña la ruta, sino tienes que imaginarla porque NO SE MOLESTAN EN ABRIR LOS EDIFICIOS

interesante lo que se puede ver allí, (ruinas, monedas, vasijas, elementos varios de decoración), junto con la ergástula.

Cuenta la historia principalmente en base a establecimiento de las legiones romanas y la importancia de la villa superior a León. Dispone de varias plantas en el que con mapas y yacimientos no explican la implantación romana en la zona. Se puede descargar una aplicación para la tablet o móvil para que nos ayude a comprender la historia por Astorga.

Ir a Astorga y no interesarse por su origen romano no tiene perdón. La mejor forma de conocer estos orígenes es el Museo Romano y especialmente la visita guiada que se realiza dos veces al día por los yacimientos de la ciudad (ojo hay que hacer reserva) estos yacimientos solo pueden verse en esta visita guiada y son más que recomendables. Termas, Cloacas, defensas, foro... todo con audiovisuales muy didácticos.

El museo esta muy bien, es encantador, muy recomendable la recorrida por las ruinas romanas que sale desde este sitio,, la Muralla Romana era la antigua entrada a la ciudad de Astorga o Asturica Augusta llamada así anteriormente

Es pequeñito, pero con algunas piezas interesantes. Se puede prescindir del vídeo inicial perfectamente, que es "de los mundos de Yupi"

Sí. Lo mejor de este museo es la ruta guiada que ofrecen. No os la perdáis.Además, también recomendable la exposición que ofrecen sobre objetos de uso doméstico, lápidas, etc...

El museo es pequeño, apreovechando parte de una construcción del foro romano. No tiene mucho para ver pero desde allí sale una visita guiada (a las 11 y a las 17) que hace un recorrido por construcciones romanas que de otra forma no se pueden visitar y están muy bien.
