we started the trek in Astorga just to include this stop on our pilgrimage. It was the start of the winter season so there was limited people on the trail. We started from Foncebadon around 8 am since the cross isn't more than an hour at most from the town. It had poured rain that night so it was misting and foggy as we neared the cross. The mist begin to clear so you could the cross as you turned the corner. I think the fog and mist added to the experience but prevented us from arriving earlier to see the sun rise at the cross which was my original goal and recommendation. It's worth the extra 5 plus km to hike to Foncebadon and start out from there, just make sure your Hostel allows you to leave before sunrise so you have time to reach it. You could also leave your gear hike up and back in likely less than an hour. It's just once on the Camino it's hard to willing ink back track. The experience of leaving your symbolic burden at the foot of the cross it very powerful and while the cross sits right next to the road and has parking spaces on one side it didn't take away from the experience too much. Had we arrived later in the day or high season with lots of tourist it likely would have made the experience less enjoyable.

Camino de Santiago,, parada obligada, la Cruz del Ferro, aquí comienza la comarca del Bierzo, llegue en coche bajando la Sierra del Teleno, a lo lejos se divisan los Picos de Europa, y llegue a Foncebadón ,, maravilloso sitio

標高約1500ｍ。ようやくここまでたどり着いた、て感じです。巡礼の皆さんが置いて行った石で凄い高さになっています。生憎の雨でしたがもう一度気合を入れなおして巡礼旅再出発です。皆さんの無事を僕も祈っています。

La croce di ferro è un posto magico, in cui le gioie, i dolori e le speranza di migliaia e migliaia di pellegrini da tutto il mondo si sovrappongono. Ciascun pellegrino lascia la sua pietra, un piccolo carico portato lì fin da casa, per poi proseguire un po' più leggero anche se interiormente più pieno.

Se trata de un punto clave del Camino de Santiago, en el cual se da la bienvenida a la maravillosa comarca de El Bierzo. Si no se está realizando el Camino merece la pena ser visitada si se está por los alrededores.

Tappa fondamentale e punto estremamente significativo del Camino de Santiago. Ho posto alla sua base alcuni oggetti (non necessariamente pietre come vorrebbe la tradizione) che mi erano stati affidati da persone a me care come simbolo della liberazione dai pesi patiti e dai peccati commessi nella propria Vita. Sono arrivato all’alba, il sole faceva capolino da dietro la montagnola di pietre preannunciando una bella giornata dopo una notte di pioggia. Non si può descrivere l’emozione provata dal mio gruppo di viaggio e dai presenti. La fatica e gli acciacchi accumulati durante il pellegrinaggio sono svaniti in un lampo. Sono rimasto da solo, con me stesso, svariati minuti e ho ripreso il cammino con animo leggero. Tappa da vivere appieno, indipendentemente dalla religione professata.
