We queued for about 30 minutes but it is worth every second. The museum is interesting, stunning and thought provoking. It is busy but I didn't find this detracted from the experience.Plan where you are going to park before you get there. The parking building close by was busy and very tight for our people mover hire car.
Dali designed this theatre to display his works as he would like them to be seen, and therein lies the difference between this museum and most other museums devoted to a single artist, including the Dali museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. We made a hard choice on our last day this time in Barcelona between visiting Montserrat and this Dali museum. The two attractions are completely different, so it really came down to mood. I was concerned that the town Figueres would be unimpressive outside of the museum. Thanks to restaurant reviews on Tripadvisor I found that the town had a lot going on, and in fact was more of a city with a Rambla (cafe-lined outside square with lots of action) and Tons of gourmet restaurants. If you've seen Barcelona before, as we have, it's nice to get a feel for other parts of Catalonia. There are two trains to bring you from Barcelona to Figueres, one fast (50 min) and the slower one which is around 2 hours. We mistakenly bought tickets for the slower one and it turned out to be a lovely and scenic ride through the country side and many small towns as well as Girona which is sort of a small Barcelona in that the architecture is outstanding and much of it is ancient. We arrived around 3 and didn't have to wait in line to buy tickets. It was 24 euros for 2 adults. If you love Dali, or if you love Art, let the master lead you into his vision in his "theatre of art." Dali is buried here, in the crypt, below the stage.Wonderful museum.Prepare to be amazed.
You cannot help but view this collection and marvel at the eclectic genius of Dali. The climax of the visit was the Dali jewels exhibit next door -- do not miss this opportunity to view a little-known facet of Dali's unique and intensely personal vision. The jewels exhibit ticket is included in the admission to the main exhibit, so visit, marvel and enjoy.
You have to see it to appreciate how amazing this museum is. I cannot believed how good and interesting the whole museum is, the building itself is a work of art. The down side is that it was very busy with school kids and tours. Even though it was busy, there was no rush for you to move on to the next room (22 in total). The tickets cost 12 euros which included entrance to the jewel centre. The small collection of jewellery was beautiful. You can purchase tickets on line or at the entrance which we did, no queue for us. Well worth the money.
You're guided through the Dalí Museum by numbers, but there are hardly explanations for the works of art you see. Apparently that's how Dalí himself wanted it. You have to guess what everything is about (or Google it afterwards or buy a book). That doesn't change that the works on display are interesting and the world of Dalí is still something special. We drove here from Leucate in France before driving on to Girona and did not regret our stop.Tip: if you do not have skip-the-line tickets, make sure to go at least half an hour before the museum opens, or you might have to wait in line for quite a while.
great value to see the works of art of this amazing talented man, well worth the money, tip= hang on to your ticket and visit the jewel centre next door to see the works of art if gems and gold
About 100 miles out of barcelona in a town called figueres, quiet town with a massive Dali museum, we found it easy access and the museum was brilliant
In my first visit to Spain I had been to Barcelona and Madrid. But, in second one I tried this lovely small city and its great museum. I can say that if you don't know Salvador Dali before than this attraction may not be a good choice for you. Don't waste time then. But if you happened to know him and his art also heard about his love Gala, in that case it's guaranteed that you'll take several hours here. The museum is full of Dali art from the entrance to the end.
What can you say about this place! Dali mesmerizing, you cannot hate, this mans imagination and superb painting ability has got to be admired.his jewels are also admired all for the price of about 15 euros. Go again! Of course. Just give me a chance.
Everyone should visit this place and see amazing artwork of Salavador Dali! Whole museum is beautiful and really interesting. I would recommend it to everyone, 'cause you can't describe that with the words...you simply have to see that!
It's not overly clear what route you are meant to take through the theatre-museum but, hey, that's part of the experience. I'm sure we missed a room or two. The art is definitely not to everybody's taste and, perhaps, it's worth looking online to get some idea of what you might see. For me, Dali's work is more challenging than that of Magritte although I am pressed to know why exactly; it's more fantastic still, I think. Whilst I had seen a number of his images over the last forty or so years, I had no idea that he had created such amazing jewellery. It really is superb.
Usually I am not a museum fan but we had a great time visiting it, it is very unique. What I like the most is that is interactive.
Did not expect this to be THAT good, seriously. The museum is a marvel. One of the best I have seen in months. Gotta say I am not the biggest museum fan, but this makes totally worth it visiting Figueras. Not giving 5 stars because they close at 6 PM and even tho if you join there just for 45 mins they dont offer any discount (12EUR) and some of the staff in there are very mean by almost kicking you out at 17.40!!! We all wanted to use the toilet and they were SO RUDE. Some of them were nice but I think its very unpolite to do that to a group of foreign people that NEEDED to use to toilet.Still, strongly recommend it
The building is already worth the visit, but some of the paintings are impressive. It's pictorial art inside architectural art. Great!!
Everyone should visit and admire Salvador Dali's work! Totally brilliant, fascinating, quirky and a must for artists of all genres!
