We thought it was worth the 7 Euro entry fee to visit this Catedral. By a strange coincidence, one of the patron Saints had the same name as my husband's aunt making our experience even more special. We enjoyed the elevator trip to the roof and although it was safe, we both agreed that it wouldn't be allowed at home. The views were spectacular. The inside of the building was full of beautiful chapels and religious art. It looked like you could swim in the marble baptismal font. There is even a flock of geese inside the cloister. This was an interesting experience for us even though we are not Catholic. And if you want to light a candle, your coin makes a connection and the candle lights up. This is easy to find in the area of Las Ramblas and we probably spent about an hour there including our visit to the roof. I would imagine visitors of the Catholic faith might enjoy a longer visit.
A complete contrast to Gaudi's masterpiece it is full of beautiful chapels and even has a flock of geese in the cloister.
My daugther and I went to Roman Catholic sundaymass 28.12.2014 on our first trip in Barcelona. It was a nice experience.Sadly after the mass were a lot of begger in front of the cathedral.
Gorgeous!!!! Definitely a sight you need to see and really easy to find off Las Ramblas. Would recommend a visit.
Wow, wow. Absolutely stunning internally and the views from the roof top are amazing. Well worth the 7 euro entrance fee.
Brilliant found it very interesting had lots to see ,great history would recommend this most see!,This was the best time to vist as the weather was just perfect 21degrees .the city has easy transport if you choose to travel by bus tram or the metro very convenient and cheap. The tour buses are good way to see all sites .How ever if you are looking for vegetarians food that is a problem.Other wise beautiful place and fabulous people.
located in the gothic quarter go see this place if only for the access to the roof for a stunning view of the city. only costs a euro to access, and definatly worth it
Definitely a must see!!!! This is such a gorgeous cathedral, not anywhere near as much tourist traffic as the Sagrada Familia. The duck in the courtyard were just adorable! Alsobe mindful of what you wear, I watched women get asked to cover up (they were wearing thin strapped tank tops I believe or tube tops) or else they were not allowed in. Highly recommend taking the elevator to the roof!
It is beautiful and grand inside, worth seeing and free. If there is a mass in session, there is plenty to do for an hour around there, then go back.
We weren't necessarily looking for it, but ran across it during one of our days exploring the Gothic Quarter. The cloister courtyard was peaceful, cool and a peaceful break. A beautiful nave, as you'd expect. Don't miss taking the elevator to the roof for some great views of the city.
We thought it was just another cathedral. In a way it was but we got to go up to the roof top which gave a commanding view over Barcelona. The little "excursion" into the courtyard and the 13 geese also made the visit a little more special than other cathedrals.
after Sagrada Familia, this is the most visited church in the city and it is easy to see why. It is a gothic masterpiece with expanding walls and high vaulted ceilings that stretch up and up. the decoration is minimal except for the many votive altars that line the walls and this adds to its mystique. And the central nave is surrounded by a choired railing which gives an air of closeness which defies the sheer scale of the building. Definitely one of the must sees on any tour
The Catedral de Barcelona (Cathedral Basilica of Barcelona) is a stunning church iin the old city. A fantastic hall church, it is remarkable for its architecture and beauty. A gothic style building, it is definitely a must see during your visit to Barcelona.
