If you can, add a morning visit to Luis Perez at their Vistahermosa Ranch. It will be a highlight! An interesting tour of the grounds, overview of the thousands of years history of wine in the zone, followed by their great wines and tapas, all in a magnificent setting. The great care, knowledge, and pride that goes into the winemaking, is also reflected in the guided visit. Send an email to arrange your visit. We are "locals", and arranged the visit a few days in advance. It is very easy to find right off the A4, 5 minutes outside of Jerez. Google maps pinpoints where you turn off the main road, and then follow the signs.
We wanted to organize an activity for our company. It was enjoyable and interesting for everyone, including our visiting American co-workers. Undoubtedly, Bodega Luis Perez has been a success, for the treatment, the professionalism and the ability to adapt to our needs. I would recommend them very much.
We took a tour of Bodegas Luis Perez while my family was visiting in November 2014 after seeing the amazing reviews online - all that you've read is true. We called ahead and found out they could see us whenever we wanted because it would be a tour just for our group! Wow!The tour was only 15Euro lasted a few hours and included a very interesting history of the winery, along with descriptions of the planting and harvest procedures, tour of the vineyards, cask room, barrel room, etc. and ended with a tasting of four wines with ample snacks as well. Virginia conducted a wonderful tour in English but said she also speaks Spanish and French. She answered all of our questions and is very knowledgeable about the industry. I would love to just sit and pick her brain...At the end we each bought a few bottles and we will be back for many more!*Note: this is NOT a sherry winery and this is NOT a giant wine producer. That's part of what makes it awesome*
On a recent sherry-tasting tour to Jerez, we came across Bodegas Luiz Perez on TripAdvisor. I was curious to see if a winery making dry wines in Andalucia could succeed, but our very helpful guide, Virginia, assured us that dry wines in this area date back millenia.Founded ten years ago by a renowned sherry expert, this winery is very impressive. A clean, modern winery and ageing room is linked to an impressive function room with commanding views of the rolling hills and shallow valleys. What makes this a 5-star review is the patience and welcoming nature of Virginia. We rang the winery on our way out of Jerez, to Malaga. We told her we could only stop for an hour visit, and that visit would have to be in twenty minutes! As busy as she was, she kindly accommodated us and showed us everything we wanted to see. I genuinely could have spent the whole day in her company. The vineyards and environs are stunning, growing international and local varieties (Tintilla is very rare for dry wines). A lovely touch is the 'nursery', where the Perez family are experimenting with international grape varieties to see which ones are suitable to the terroir of their vineyard.Highly recommend this tour for anyone who has even a passing interest in wine.
We were recommended by a local wine shop in Conil to visit this winery. It was brilliant. The setting is magnificent, with panoramic views across the Andalusian countryside. The winery was established 10 years ago as a family business by Luis Perez who used to be in charge of development and research at the Domecq bodega in the centre of Jerez. It specialises in signature wines - principally red. Garum, Samaruco, and Tintilla are all outstanding. They are developing a new rose which is also very good. The four of us were given our own tour round the winery and vineyards by the wonderful Virginia. She is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Italian and very knowledgeable about the history of the winery and the processes of growing and cultivating the grape and producing the different types of wine. The tour - which in our case lasted about two hours but can be tailored to taste - ended with an extended tasting accompanied by delicious tapas, all for 15 euros each. We will definitely be back next year, as they are continually developing new wines. It's wise to book in advance - but we phoned up on the morning of our visit and they fitted us in at 1pm. The winery is about ten minutes drive off the main A4 Cadiz - Seville motorway at exit 639, the same exit as IKEA. I can't recommend this excursion strongly enough.
What a lovely place. The tour was very interesting and our guide (Virginia) was certainly very knowledgeable. The wine and food were outstanding and the view/ location was just beautiful. Even though it’s a little ‘off the beaten track’ it’s still very accessible from Jerez. We took a taxi each way (it’s only around 5ks from the center of town). Highly, highly recommended.
We ventured off the road to the winery based on TripAdvisor reviews. At first, it seemed like it was closed or we were at the wrong place, but it turned out that no one else was scheduled that day. Virginia just stopped what she was doing and gave the two of us an excellent hour long tour followed by a very fine tasting of red and rose wines and local tapas in an elegantly appointed setting, a fine contrast to being herded through more touristy sites. Note that it is not sherry. Costs 15 euro per person.

One of the best winery visits we have done in Jerez. Very welcoming hosts (Virginia and Fatima) and wonderful wines and foods. We visited at the same time as ChefH36 below and echo her comments. Its worth stressing that this is not a Sherry Bodega; they produce red wines and rose, but other wines will be added in due course. We particularly liked the reds, which were bursting with flavour. Altogether a memorable visit and one that we will certainly make again.
How refreshing to see a family run business still actually run by the family. Quality not quantity is the order of the day and this shows in the attention to detail seen across the whole experience. Our guide Virginia was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about both growing the grapes and producing the wines. The tour and tasting which also included delicious tapas lasted over 2 hours. Booking in advance is recommended as small parties are preferred. We were very lucky and joined with another couple who had booked, we were cheeky and just turned up on the offchance.!!!. The cost was €15 per person and included 3 red wines to taste and tapas including local cheese, potato tortilla, local ham and various olive oils with bread to dip.would also like to say a huge "grasias" to Fatima Perez for letting us try the brand new rose wine the family have produced for the first time, about to go on sale next week.. it was delicious and I hope will be a huge sucess for the family.cannot reccomend this visit highly enough, you wont be disappointed.I would have uploaded photos but for some reason the tablet wont let me!
This was the best experience we had . The wines were fantastic and the staff were great . We left feeling we had made new friends also loved the dogs
Living in jerez, being a fan of red wine and so having been introduced to Garum a year ago by a concerned and considerate friend who knew more than I, I have been keen to make it out to the beckoning hill on the edge of the city where the Bodega Luiz Perez is prettily perched and where I might finally sample their range of signature wines in spectacular situ. I was not disappointed. The guided tour of the immaculately tended grounds and state of the art winery was kindly concise, genuinely informative and delivered in a down to earth way that nevertheless made one mindful of the seriousness with which the family and workers approach their artful work. Both Virginia, our excellent guide and Fatima, the daughter of the Perez family, were as friendly as they were fanatical about the work of wine-making and extremely generous with their time, even hanging out with our group for photographs on the terrace of the incredible James Bond-baddie style building where the tasting room is situated. The tasting itself, accompanied by just the right amount of just the right kind of tasty tapas, while focused, felt free from the kind of poncey nonsense that can sometimes blight the wonderful world of wine-tasting. Instead it equipped the visitor with the sound reasoning and understandable science needed to truly take advantage of their very fine wines. The measures, far from meagre were a final boon.Thank you for a lovely day and, of course, the delicious wine. All the best, BenOriginal written in English
Having been to numerous vine tastings in different countries, I can easily say that this was the best one yet. Very informative, relaxed, well organised, stunning location. And the wines- really good quality, produced with passion. Definitely recommended- thank you for this great experience and all the best!
