We only went on this at the last minute after hearing about it from Tourist Information. It was the only horse show available to us on a Saturday in November. It is a short drive (20 minutes max from centre) outside Jerez and easy to find except that Sat Nav does not work. We arrived too late for the tour but managed to see the show which was marvellous. I am not a horsey person but you cannot help admire these beautiful animals and skilful horsemen. Definitely worth a trip.
In November it was surprisingly busy, but the different groups were well organised and it did not feel too crowded. The show was the highlight, and all very good value for money.
Thoroughly enjoyed the visit, they provided tours in english, spanish, german and perhaps other languages i did not see.The most expensive ticket is 21 euros but really it doesnt matter if you buy a cheaper one because you get the same tour experience and can sit where you like to watch the show (might be different during high season). The tour includes the coach room, saddlery, the stallions, mares, colts and fillies, surgery, grounds and back to the show picadero. The show was brilliant includes several different aspects of the stud farm, wont say anymore as I believe its best left as a surprise. Seriously recommend for any horse lover, and oh there is a shop you can buy some expensive souvenirs but at the moment they are on sale!
If you are a horse lover like me, do not miss out..I had a chance to compare this place to Real Escuela de Arte Ecuestre de Jerez (as had tickets for both shows) and Yeguada will always be the number one for me. At Yeguada de la Cartuja you get a 1hr tour with a guide around the stables and then get to see the actual horse show. The show is unforgettable experience, you won't get bored for a second and only wish the show would carry on for hours. The only downside of this place is the distance from Jerez (about 16km away from the centre). Unless you have a car rented or get a taxi (about 20 euro each way), there is no public transport. Hence not exactly a typical touristy place and mostly only Spaniards know of that place, but for those in love with horses that is the place to be. Highly recommended!!!
Located about 20 minutes south of Jerez, this event is well worth the trip. It lasts 2 hours and is filled with interesting information and exciting events. The finale with the foals will bring tears to your eyes.
Thank you very much for your comment.Unfortunately, as we only open to the public on Saturdays , there is no public transportation to our farm.
Thank you very much for your comment. We are now making some changes in our website and ticket office, so our guests with reservation do not have to wait to get their tickets.Best regards,Yeguada de la Cartuja
We booked by email. Doors open at 1030 and the tour starts at 11.00. We had an English speaking guide and other guides took tour parties for German and Spanish speakers. We were given a thorough tour of the stud facility lasting 1 hr and then went to the arena for the show. It was interesting and the horses are beautiful. This is suitable for all ages and is an excellent way to be introduced to the Carthusian horse.
