This destination can be reached by car or public transportation. By car can drive all the way to Pllumbas as well as by bus. The buses leave at the foot of Elbasani Road and has to be specifically for Pllumbas. If one feels like walking longer, can take any bus that goes past the turn to Pllumbas and walk the road for about 35 minutes till you reach the cafe at the start of the trail to the cave. Trail itself is moderate, have to be careful as you are passing through mountain side edges etc so 'reckless running children' be aware, this is a walking trail. Trail is well marked and leads towards the cave which is a great attraction, need head light / spot light to go into the cave and maybe boots if going during the rainy season. Could be muddy inside. At summer time, after visiting the cave, can 'slide' literally slide downhill all the way to the river and have a nice swim on Erzeni. Can walk downhill along the river side, other trails go back to the cafe, so you end up doing a loop... along the river stop and look for small beaches and amazing canyons.
Its strange because im rating something that nature is building in 100k years maybe more and i feel a little bit too young to do this. Its still untouched by human hand so it's worth the time to go and visit
I went on a hike here with a guide. It's not necessary to have a guide, thought it did make it more pleasant for me (transportation and lunch were included). Relatively easy hike, lots of locals doing the hike which is nice to see.
The hike to the caves is enjoyable but the caves themselves are dark, muddy and little to see. I would not recommend this place.
Pėllumbasit Cave also known as Black Cave is an archaeological site near the village Pëllumbas Albania. In this country have calculated tracing ancestors who lived in the early period some 10,000 years ago. It is located 27 km southeast of Tirana, you can go by buss from Tirana to Pellumbas(the bus station is at 'Rruga Elbasanit', near 'Borebardha dhe 7 xhuxhat'. From Pellumbas, you will have to walk 40 minutes to go to the cave, the road is easy, there are some signs that lead you to the cave. And you should have a flashlight to enter to the cave, because inside the cave it is very dark. And after visit the cave I will strongly reccomend you to go down to the down to the river valley Erzeni. There is no road to go there, by you can go by being held through the trees and down with ropes, it is a little bit difficult but when you are there you will see a fantastic view and feel the noises of the water, because it is an waterfall.
