If you go to the Union County Farmer's Market please be careful when purchasing produce. Not all of the offerings are locally sourced. For example, Long's Produce purchases wholesale to resell at the Farmer's market. You might be getting AL or FLA stuff. I shop for local produce for my boutique jam company, Appalachian Kitchens - but can;t rely on all offerings as fresh and local. I buy from folks who have their stuff packaged in small mismatched boxes, a truer indication that they did not purchase in bulk. Before local corn is in season, more than one vendor has been know to NOT source locally. And watch out as well, because there are rules from the GA Dept of Ag about food production for jams, jellies, relishes, and such but are NOT enforced and you may be getting jam NOT produced in a sterile/inspected environment. Please visit the market but purchase with care. There are many other markets that act a local truck markets, offer smaller quantities, and you are sure to get local then.

We first went here on a Saturday morning and was happy with the produce. Several ladies had homemade jam. A few crafters. The big hit was the meat man. My family bought sausage biscuits with meat only made the day before. Talk about fresh. during the week they are open again and some of the same as Saturday but other people there too. Has room to expand. Parking managed well. They put our new clean car in a nice and convenient location. Gets a little muddy when rainy.

I start at one end and walk the market - then walk back thru knowing where I want to stop for tomatoes, corn, peppers, squash, and so much more. Whatever is fresh from the local farmer's fields. One can also get local sausage, honey & along with homemade goodies. There are also artisans selling their wares. On Saturdays (and Tuesday afternoons) it is only farmers with locally grown food & the artisans with their crafts that they have made. Don't confuse Saturday with Trash & Treasure which is just what it says - it's on Thurs & Fridays.

This was such a disappointment!! We went hoping for jams, jellies, syrups, honey, veggies and such. This was only a junk, flea market. There was one person that had a few peas and corn! DO NOT GO, unless you are looking to pick up someone's trash! Again, hugely disappointed. Maybe just the day we picked, but the are not open much, so think this may be more the norm.

I'm lucky enough to live in Blairsville year-round, and this is my favorite thing to do on Saturdays in the growing season. I always find good, fresh produce, and it's nice to talk with the local farmers. Plus there are tempting baked goods like homemade bread, and I enjoy seeing the crafts. The folks who run the market are on hand and talk with everyone. They come up with many entertaining themes through the year and sometimes have cook-offs and food sampling. We even toured the community cannery last year. Definitely should be on visitors' list to do.

The Union County Farmers Market has become the heart and soul of Blairsville. It has become not only a gathering place for local farmers to sell their harvest of fresh produce, flowers and crafts, but also a gathering place for residents of the surrounding communities to meet and greet. The Union County Farmers Market season runs from June 7 through October 25. It is open on Tuesdays 3 PM-7 PM and Saturdays 7 AM-1 PM. There is a different themed special event every Saturday that runs simultaneously with the market. This past Saturday was Bubba's BBQ Blast where local BBQ backyard legends held a cook off. There was live music, samples galore and judging at the end for the king of the pit. Next Saturday's theme is the Egg-stravaganza where there will be a presentation of every sort of egg dish. If you love fresh, locally grown produce and also love special events with a carnival atmosphere, be sure to visit.

We went for the first time and were wowed by all the beautiful food and flowers. Also hot sandwiches and drinks available if you get hungry during purchasing. A parade of tractors from the entire area, and a few who came from farther away. A visit to the market is now a weekly event during their season,

We went to the Farmers' Market to check it out. It was great. Beautiful fruits and veggies at affordable prices. Flowers grown locally at reasonable prices. Hot food and drinks sold there also so you can have a snack as you walk the stalls. Best of all, we hit it on a day they were having a tractor parade. Old ones, new ones, red ones, blue ones. We will be back on opening day in the spring.

We went to the Green Bean Festival at the farmers market the other day and we had a blast! Their prices are very reasonable and it reminded me of a quieter, simpler time. All the vendors were very nice and friendly. We also checked out their warehouse, where locals bring fresh veggies and their own mason jars/lids and can/preserve their own produce! There is a small fee per jar if you want to do it. They are set up to do this in a big way! Much more room than my kitchen, with my little stove and little stock pot! It was so clean and well thought-out. They said since we're new to canning our own produce, we would have plenty of local folks to help! I wish we had a place like this in our hometown.

Beautiful building and location. Great local families and foods. We went on a Tuesday instead of the weekend. Saturday would have many more vendors.

This is way more than a farmer's market, it is the gathering place to see your neighbor and pick up produce, fresh eggs, plants, canned goods. crafts by locals, and gift items such as soaps, lotions and body scrubs. This is a must visit you are new or visiting on Saturday morning .It is like going to a festival during the growing season.

My family and I drove over while vacationing in Helen. We had a great time here. The market has produce, baked goods, crafts, etc. We bought some pork rinds and some soap. We had a great time looking through the stalls. Everyone there was very friendly. We also had some fantastic hand squeezed lemonade -for only $1. They have bathroom facilities and help parking. If you are in the area, this is a great place to stop.

This is an excellent farmer's market with home grown produce and hand made crafts, breads, cakes, pies, jams, jellies, honey from friendly people. I have never had a bad experience and I try to go every day they are open.

We have been to many Farmer's Markets throughout the years, but NONE can hold a stick even close to that of the Union County Farmer's Market. The people there are so Friendly, but that's not what keeps us going back...it's their Fresh Produce. Some days the dew is still on the Veggies from when it was harvested earlier that morning. And you can't beat the prices! We have learned to bring a Knapsack because as we buy a little of this and a bit of that, well.... your bag(s) can get Heavy! So, if you see some couple walking through the Union County Farmer's Market one day and they both are wearing Knapsacks.... you found us! And one more thing....This Farmer's Market is not just about freshly picked Veggies. Locally made Crafts, Soaps, Linens, infused oils, Christmas/Birthday presents, etc and etc are also for sale there all the time when the Market is open. Before going, please check out their website to learn if something special is going on, as well as their days and hours of operation. And yes, it's unfortunately true that no pets are allowed and I learned that this is because of the State's Health Department requirement. (But between me and you...I have seen a couple visiting canines on leashes. Shhhhh)

Friendly, interesting items and great facilities. We brought my elderly parents this trip and appreciated the accessable parking and cement floors that made it easy for them to enjoy the market. I love the fact that this is a small market, yet, jam packed with great produce, canned goods and arts/crafts. I also completely disagree with the one star review...ignore it. Be bought greens, canned goods and plants and a few crafts- had a great time.
