How anyone in their right mind thinks the Olive Store chain is a better Blue Ridge experience than this train is beyond me. My wife and I loved it and so did our children.

The Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad originates in downtown Blue Ridge, which is a destination community located @12 miles from Tennessee and @ 18 miles from North Carolina. The train travels the 13 miles to McCaysville, Georgia / Copperhill, Tennessee on a one hour trip. Along the way, it runs beside the Toccoa River, which is one of the only rivers in the state that flows north. Along the way, riders are treated to a view of the "fish trap". This is a V-shaped rock formation in the river that has been dated to be over 400 years old. It actually pre-dates the Cherokees. In McCaysville/Copperhill, there is a 1.5 to 2 hour stop for riders to explore the town and get food. Then, it's back to Blue Ridge. The train has open air cars and closed coaches. This season, the train will offer "prestige service" in one car, which will be a bit more luxurious. The train has a well-stocked concession car and helpful car hosts to answer questions and ensure safety. The train serves nearly 70,000 customers a year. It is a fun trip for both adults and children, and is a great way to spend 4 not 5 hours of your Blue Ridge visit.

You will not be disappointed. I sugguest you buy your tickets ahead on line, so you just have to pick them up. The train is clean and the staff very helpful. A nice way to spend the day with family.

The train ride and staff were great. Although we came in December the view was still very nice. I was a little dissapointed with the layover in the little town. There was just nothing to do otther than crab a quick lunch.

From my undertanding, this was the first time they offered this trip and it was great! Left at 10pm, stopped at midnight to bring in the New Year and returned to Blue Ridge at 12:30. Loved it!

Regrettably, our family was not able to ride the blue ridge scenic railroad on our trip to blue ridge. Sold out on 12/30, 12/31 etc. book in advance online if you are planning a trip around the holidays.

Staff was very professional and informative. We enjoyed walking through the cars and looking at the beautiful scenery. There was just enough time during the stop to eat lunch and visit a few shops.Would like to go again in another season.

This is a fantastic trip and a great experience in the North GA mountains! A must-do for couples, families with children all the way up to Seniors. The motive power and cars are vintage and very clean and well maintained. Our Car Host was pleasant, informative and friendly. Although McCaysville/Copperhill could take some lessons from the BlueRidge Downtown Development Authority, overall we loved the shopping in BlueRidge and other places on the trip. I would have given it 5 stars except McCaysville/Copperhill didn't have a lot to offer. This is one of our favorite adventures that we've been on in Georgia. Do yourself a favor and enjoy the trip along the beautiful Toccoa river on the BRSR!!!!! A True Favorite!!!

Our family owns a cabin in the Blue ridge area and in the season we would hear that ole lonesome whisle blow. one day while we in downtown blue ridge at browns feed store buying deer feed, we spotted the train so we thought we would see what gives. We got tickets we climbed on board. It was just pleasure to clippityclack along the tracks through the mountain scenery.the kids were awestruck the put down there Ipods and hardley said a word all the way to Mcraysville at lunch they just jabbered on and on about the experience i believe i was the proudest poppa on the mountain that day.

We did the 1 hour Santa trip with two year old twins. Our first time on the train here. One had a blast and the other fell asleep. Still got a great family shot w Santa. She just was sleeping in the photo. Enjoyed the Christmas carol singing. Will do this again.

This is touted by all as a must do in Blue Ridge. We stopped by the Depot gift shop and received the most cordial and loving service of any store in town. Super nice and attentive. Go smash a penny and get to know the staff. I will not forget this small shop full of Christmas joy.

We took our 4 year old daughter for the ride with Santa. We all had a great time. Santa, Mrs. Claus, the elves & Rudolph were all great. We also enjoyed the guys singing. We also enjoyed walking around to all of the shops. And visiting the Christmas village & visiting with Santa again at the pavillion & we had dinner. We will for sure be doing it again soon.

We took this fabulous train ride the first time we stayed in Blue Ridge. Our grandson was 6at the time and had never ridden a train before. We rode in a cabin car and had the best time. We got to meet the conducters we had pictures taken and enjoyed every minute. When we got to McCrays ville we spent the afternoon visiting the shops and strolling the streets. We had lunch in a really great Mexican restaurant. When it was time to leave we rode back in an open car, we enjoyed the few animals we saw and the scenery. A few years later we rented a cabin in Blue Ridge that the train tracks were in the frontyard of the house..every day that we were there we went out side as soon as we heard the whistle -twice a day and enjoyed the train passing and waving to all the riders. This was a memory that our Grandson will never forget and neither will the rest of us
