Very nice museum outlining the gold rush in Dahlonega. My husband enjoyed learning about the history of the area, and I thought the best part was the gold in the bricks of the building.

This was a great little collection of history in the center of town. The film was informative, the displays well presented and the Staff was so friendly and helpful- you could tell they loved their job.If you do not know about the gold history of the area (and want to) this is a must visit.

This is a nice place. The brother-in-law visited her while the lady folks were roaming around the shops. Nice movie that gives history of the mines. Lots of artifacts and gold! Have to visit here before you go to the consolidated mine!

I had no idea this was the first major gold rush area. It's a small museum, but it is chalk full of information. The people here are very nice and informative if you have any questions for them. Great place for anyone to visit, young or old

Dahlonega, Georgia is the site of the first major gold rush, and the museum take you back to a different era. What was so very nice is our tour guide for the day was "Anne Dismukes Amerson" who has written several book on Dahlonega. The movie and presentation of the information about the gold rush 1829 long before the California Gold Rush. Dahlonega also had one of the first 3 mints in the country. Charlotte NC, New Orleans LA, and Dahlonega Ga. Here you will receive information on were you can go to pan gold for yourself in the town.

Great family attraction for hands on history for historically curious kids & adults! Be sure to catch the cinema production upstairs for memorable film overview of Gold Fever era. Also have mineral rocks & related displays. Check hours closes early.

The museum is very small so it is a short visit. The history is incredibly interesting and the short film in well done. The staff at the museum is very friendly and offered to offer questions and share interesting information that was not necessarily on the displayed signage.

It doesn't take long to go through this small museum, but it is full of the history of this area; which was one of the first gold rushes in America. The once old courthouse describes the history of the discovery of gold in the North Georgia area and many of the local mines. The original courthouse bricks that were used, were made from clay from local creeks and you could actually see small gold specks in them! There was so much gold being found in this area that the government actually built US mint in the town! The coins created here are some of the rarest US coins ever minted. The building has two stories and there is no elevator to the second floor, which could pose a problem to some. It is part of the Georgia State Park system and the current admission was $7 with a small discount for seniors. Overall, a nice place to visit when in the area.

The museum is great! It's located in the middle of downtown Dahlonega on the square. The building alone is worth going to, but the museum is an added bonus!

Interesting history of the building itself, good movie with overview of the Georgia Gold Rush (did not know there was a gold rush in Georgia!) and great displays.

The gold museum is in the old courthouse in the middle of the Dahlonega square. The historic building is beautiful and well preserved. There is a museum downstairs and a good film to watch upstairs about the history of gold mining in the area. The staff is very knowledgeable and eager to share. There is also a nice little gift shop in the lobby with the most delicious chocolate bar I've ever had! Plan on spending about 1-2 hours here and beware, parking is hard to come by!
