INK is a great place for children to play and learn. They can get the feel of actually being in a dentist office, bank, Post Office, and many many other experiences. Parents can feel free to let their children explore while they can relax and maintain a minimum of supervision.
The kids had a fun time playing in the different rooms. A lot of the toys are old and need to be replaced. Some of the toys for certain play areas were missing. The clothing should have been washed and replaced before they opened instead while we were there. It does not look like things are cleaned very often. Their website is in the easiest to use.
My daughter loves this place. Tons of little centers to play. Great for boys and girls. A great place for children to use their imagination.
I took my 8 year old grandson to INK not sure if he would be too old for the museum but he had a blast despite the crowds of daycare kids. We hated to leave.
$8 a person is a bit pricey, but I love bringing the kids here. Tons of rooms with each having its own theme. A little tough if you have a big age split between kids. 2+ hours of fun guaranteed though.
We live in southern GA. I had seen this on Georgia Traveler and thought it looked cool but too far to visit. We found ourselves in the area & finally got the chance to check it out. My daughter is almost 3 and just getting into imaginative play. I wish this place was nearer to us because I can see us spending whole days here and never running out of stuff to do. There were some things that required our interaction, since my daughter is young and doesn't have siblings & we didn't come with friends. But even she was able to engage with other kids and have a great time. They have an under 4 room as well for little kids, and I even saw mobile babies enjoying some areas, so this place is for all ages. I can imagine older kids who are growing out of the pretend play stage to maybe not be the best fit here. It is not a museum like other museums, though there are placards throughout teaching different words or ideas. While we were there, staff would close & clean certain sections. I love that they helped keep it organized & wiped down. I was worried that in summer there would be so many kids, but there were so many stations, there was no real wait time. Great place, I would definitely come again if we were closer, and even buy a pass if we were local.
We took our five year old and 18 month old to INK on a rainy Saturday. The admission is reasonably priced. The museum has various themed play areas: Broadway with dress up, grocery store, post office, soda shop, barber shop, vet, dentist, etc. There are train tables and a larger play train. An old fire engine, a police car, and airplane and a barn with a pretend cow that kids can milk (water comes out). There is a small play structure and much more. It was a fun way to spend time together as a family.
Took our three grandchildren 8, 5, and 3. They had a great time. Surprising number of venues for them to explore - bank, post office, supermarket, drs office, fire engine, farm, etc. Very wide selection, a lot for them to do and see. Something to consider, there's no one there to explain or interact with the kids in the venues. That said, we had great fun providing instruction, explanations, play acting with our grand kids. Just be prepared to let them run free or to provide some interaction yourself. Some venues need some investment. Things have worn out or are missing some components that would really help and freshen up the experience. All in it was a worthwhile investment of time and a fun learning experience.
Ink is the perfect place to take your kids, younger kids to have an experience with miniature shops, grocery store, restaurant, trains, and airplanes all geared towards a plethora of fun.
Good Kids party location. Bring your own food. Exhibits are permanent, so they will be the same on your return visit. Best for K-4. May be boring for older kids.
This is an awesome museum for kids - they have so many toys to play and do pretend play. They can sit inside cop cars, quad bikes, fire trucks, air planes - Touching and feeling leads to so much fun oriented learning. My 3 year old had a blast. Heck - even we had a blast playing and watching the glorious beaming smile on his face. It's a little bit of a drive from Alpharetta where we live - but it is totally worth it.
Young children have a really good time here. Many things to do to keep them active. Was there for my Granddaughter's Birthday Party and it was handled flawlessly. Caring and attentive staff.
Then look in the mirror. And not one of those distorting funhouse mirrors, either. My kids were zero and a half and 4 the second to the last time they set foot in this place and they nagged me so vehemently to go back that I had to make a special trip. Yes, a lot of stuff is worn out or broken. This place operates on a shoestring compared to other kid museums. And most of the equipment was busted or outdated when it was donated a million years ago. But if that's all you're seeing, you're really missing the point. This is a huge, colorful, totally safe place for kids to completely lose themselves in imaginative play with no distractions for hours on end. You'll note, I'm sure, what INK stands for. They say there is no "I" in "Team," but in this case the "I" is very much here and is pretty "Important." The idea is for you and your child to interact. Share some quality time. If all you're aiming to do is perch yourself on a giant blue foam block like a fat frog and check Spacebook from your bedazzled Iphone, Li'l Sweetie ain't gonna get a whole out out of the place. Play with your kid! Lose yourself for a little while! If you do, you will love this place and so will your special snowflakes.
I took my 2.5 year old because everyone I met since I moved to the area has told me to check it out. I was so disappointed. Most of the activities to do are dated and a majority of the bells and whistles of the venue have non-working equipment of some sort. My son would get so disappointed when he would push a button and nothing would happen. The venue smelled worse than my son's daycare after a day in the heat after a 100 diapers. I felt like we both needed a bath afterward because none of the staff ensured tidiness or cleanliness. With regards to the staff, none walking around to ensure a good experience, they all stayed up at the front at the desk where you pay $12 to get in. Their average age was 16 and their customer service skills were terrible. When I told them we were new, they did not roll out the red carpet to go out of their way to do....well anything. I had to ask for a map, where the bathrooms were, what was the best way to maneuver in the venue; just plain unimportant to them. With just a little enthusiasm my son's experience probably would of been three times better. GET THE EQUIPMENT FIXED AND FILL IN HOLES IN WALLS. TRAIN THE STAFF TO REALLY GET EXCITED, THESE ARE KIDS THEY ARE DEALING WITH.
Very entertaining for children under 11. Make sure no groups are there when you go. That can be chaos.
