Truly enjoyed the extensive practice area before the round. Course was in excellent shape and loved the elevation changes as I play mostly flatland courses. Was a single, but luckily got paired with locals who were very friendly and helped guide me around the course. Tried to play course again during vacation stay, but it was scheduled with several tournaments. Wish I could have played it again, but there a lots of other good courses in the area to choose from.
This is a very nice golf course. It's price point is a little high, but the greens are soft and slow, and the fairways are wide and open. It's a fun course that won't make you angry. The absence of a refreshments cart was a very big negative. The landscaping and maintenance is excellent and the scenery is beautiful, but where was the cart girl? She passed us on the first hole right after we left the pro shop and had what we needed. But we never saw her again. And, to make it worse, when you make the turn you aren't near the clubhouse for a refill. On a hot summer afternoon the dehydration made the round unpleasant. I would definitely play there again but definitely bring my own drinks.
The golf course design doesn't flow. The course is comprised of Nicklaus designed holes from some of his other courses, but the flow of the holes is discombobulated. In addition, our golf cart died on the 14th hole, and we had to push the cart until the 18th tee box. We called twice, and the beverage cart called once, but no one came for almost an hour. And we were not offered a discount or a reduced rate for another round. $157 green fee is grossly overpriced.
Bear's Best is, simply stated, an exceptional golf course that provides a challenge to players at every level. As a local I have had the pleasure of playing the course a number of times and have never been disappointed. The course provides the unique concept in that it is comprised of replica holes from Jack Nicklaus' designed courses from all over the world. The staff provides outstanding service. Maintenance is exemplary as the fairways and greens have always been in immaculate condition. The clubhouse is a beautiful facility and the dining options are much better than those offered at typical golf clubhouses. It's not inexpensive but not outrageous either. I've paid far more to play on "resort" courses that were inferior in every way.
Played in October with the AGA, always a pleasure to play this course. It was in great shape and the staff is very friendly. If you have a chance, play it!
I have played thousands of rounds of golf and this one is up there. We had our Tour Tournament of Champions at this location last weekend and it really was a great course. The fees are high but the "Puzzle" experience of holes from all over is an awesome one. By the way...on #6 and #11 the par 3's...just go at those pins....you only live once:)
I've played BB more times than I can remember. The layout is nice with holes appealing to every golfer and testing all parts of your game. Short almost drivable par 4s, long par 3s, etc. Off the tee block the course is generally quite generous. Approach shots can be difficult on some holes but it's not too bad. The conditioning is always top notch and they over-seed in the winter. Overall, it's a great place to play if you don't mind paying a little bit of a higher rate.
Golfed New Year's Eve and the course played well. The greens rolled true and held shots. The staff was very helpful also. The price was good but they could have for the fee included range balls. I'll be back to play in the spring.
if you want lunch after a round of golf or Drinks at the 19th hole this is the place. the food is incredible and the beer is cold! great selection not the typical hamburger and hot dogs
Simply put, this is the best golf course in the Suwanee area. The concept of Jack Nicklaus' favorite holes is genius. Jack is a golf legend and the fact these are his "best" is just awesome. It's pricey, but there is a story with each hole. I try to play once a year and/or when someone special is in town for a visit and is a golf die hard. A must play in Atlanta area.
Unique in that it copies some of Jack's most famous and interesting golf holes. Well kept and reasonable especially taking advantage of the twilight rates. Course in good condition and well kept. It will challenge you in many ways.
