We recently went here one Saturday. The employee there that day was very helpful and knowledgable the books given at the beginning of tour were somewhat helpful. Plenty of information to read about Robert Toombs. Home had recently been repaired from water damage and painted. The only problem is the grounds have no gardens to see. They talk about how much Robert Toombs did to plan the gardens but the grounds are very unkept. Tour does not take long and it would be helpful to add recorders that guest can take with them and listen to descriptions of each room and information on family and home as they tour the house and grounds
This house is historically correct down to the furniture used by Robert Toombs. There was a great video before the tour that is a must.It sets the stage for Robert Toombs life story and his part in the confederacy. Very interesting.
Great place to visit with the family, especially if you like history, and excellent if you like anything to do with the Civil War era.
We had toured the Robert Toombs House several times both by ourselves and with family. Each and every time you always see something new and learn a little more history. Great!
It was very interesting. It is a big house and the outside is very nice also. They were getting ready for an event the next day in which people came in dressed in period clothing. The gentleman that showed us around was to play Robert Toombs in the event. Will definitely be checking that out next year!
This house is beautiful. The furniture and house furnishing were amazing. We will definatley go back again.
I am not from Georgia, so I am not familiar with Robert Toombs or his impact on Georgia history. I did enjoy the tour of his house. It is beautiful and the houses around it are just as nice. Our tour guide was very nice.

If you love to roam around in antebellum mansions don't miss this one. Restored to pristine condition, the Robert Toombs house is the epitome of how the rich and famous lived in the old, deep South. Check out The Opera house while in Washington also.
We had a nice time wandering around the Robert Toombs house. Before visiting, I didn't know much about Toombs, but the museum really gave a sense of his life and many accomplishments. When we went, the tour was self-guided and we were given a booklet with maps and some explanations, but I would have liked to have a bit more guidance or someone around who could have answered some questions.
