If you are in the Columbus area the Riverwalk is worth checking out. There was an island of rocks that kids enjoyed climbing on. There was a zipline across the river. It looked pretty cool and I would like to try it if we find ourselves in Columbus,GA again. It costs $34.50 which is fairly reasonable for ziplines. They also have whitewater rafting trips as well from there as well.
This is an every weekend destination for me. My husband and I often take the dogs for a stroll, run, bike, paddle board and people watch. Lots of history with bronze historical markers explaining the significance of many sites (including the civil war battleship found in the river). Lots of great dog-friendly restaurants nearby to hit after exercising. Highly recommend a visit.
We arrived here early on a Monday and found the views of the small city and river to be gorgeous. There are a few old buildings and foundations here that have been preserved and/or renovated but I couldn't find any type of historical marking to let me know their significance and why the city felt the need to preserve them. I think the walk would have been more interesting with this information. The sight and sound of the white water was very soothing and the entire trip was a very relaxing get away. I saw that there was a zip line across the river and a place to take a white water rafting tour, but these attractions seem to be closed for the winter. Given the age and history of this area, I think that the city officials should capitalize on that and fore-go the white water rafting and zip line. This is a wonderful city that probably has a lot to offer and much historical interest (I wouldn't know since nothing is marked); it should not be ruined by turning it into a cheap theme park. If I am ever in the area again I will definitely pay the river walk another visit if for no other reason than to enjoy the peace and quiet of the river.
Very pleasant area all refurbished. Great for a family walk or bike ride. Interesting stops along the river
The RiverWalk along the Chattahoochee River in Columbus is the best thing to ever happen to this city. Great for a wrokout or just have a seat on one of the many park benches along the way and watch the kids (young and old) run the rapids. You can rent a raft or kayak or a bike at several locations.
This particular attraction is great for the avid jogger or walker. In the summer, there is a water sprinkler pad for wet play that's neat for small children and playful adults. White water rafting sits on the banks of the Riverwalk with an island for patrons to view from. A zip-line was recently added. I've taken romantic walks along this river walk at night, and have even gone fishing. If none of the above-mentioned things are of any interest to you, I'd steer clear of the Riverwalk. Not many culturally integrated activities.
Beautiful, peaceful watching kayaks and white water rafters. People walking their dogs, families with children, people fishing. The views are awesome.
Great place to relax, exercise and watch the white water rafting. Zip line is up and running with a new tube slide coming shortly.
Well worth driving into downtown, finding a parking spot and getting out for a good walk....or bike ride, if you brought yours or want to rent one in town. This is a long trail along the river and it's falls, nicely paved and landscaped. Interesting old buildings too.
A lovely walk along the Chattahoochee with varied scenery including the new whitewater rafting area which is the longest urban whitewater course in the world.
If you're brave do the Zip line across the river to Alabama. Looks like a blast. We had a nice lunch in town and walked around the river. They did a nice job on the Columbus side redoing the whole walk. Looks nice and it is a nice long walk. Would say go for sure when you visit that area.
The Columbus River Walk is a breath taking place. Peace and beautiful views of the river, and Phonix City, AL. Great for a jog, or a just a stroll.
We took two walks here and loved them. It was great weather so the walk was nice. It was clean and peaceful
The riverwalk is very nicely done. A comfortable walk along the river. We saw zip liners and rafters wven though it was cold.
Pretty and convenient: Good track for popping up and down from the base to town with some good little hills and pretty spots.
