This is a really cool place to watch the water flowing over and through the rocks, hike and take in nature. There are stone steps leading up hills or you can climb the rocks. Many picnic tables throughout, restrooms, two playgrounds, hiking and bike trails.
I love the outdoors. This is a great place I like to hike around with the kids, dog. We have playing on playgrounds. We walk around take some wonderful outdoor pictures. Nice water running through the area. Nice size lake. You can spend they day picnicking hiking and playing.
This park has lots to offer. In the summer you'll find dogs and kids playing in the water, which is a great way to beat the summer heat. It also has part of the fall line trace trail running through, disc golf, a nice little pond. Great for pictures and an afternoon hike.
great for takeing Pictures there, now in the Fall and the Spring the place to go. Wonderfull to exercise in. Jogging, Biketrails, fishing, Playground. great place to have Family Events lots of BBQ areas. The Bike Trail that goes runs into Columbus is an easy to get to from there also. And in the summer it is a graet sunbathing place on the rocks in Water. ;-)This Site only give you the Option to chose one of the Sort of Visit is was. Well I used to live only 5 Min away from there and walked a lot of times there by the BikeTrail. There are also other great parks not mentioned here. check out Cooper Creek Park its smaller but still nice and the Park of Moon Rd, cant think of the Name now. I went there a lot of time also.
I walk this park 2 or 4 times a week it is a beautiful park - I have enjoyed this park for years even as a child with the family
This is a great place to hang out with friends at no cost. It has water that runs down rocks that kids sit and slide on. It has great scenic views.
I enjoy going to Flat Rock often with my family- sometimes taking a dip in the water or playing on the playground and frequently taking our dinner to eat on the rocks or at a table. The reason my rating is low is because of the upkeep of the park. One of the sets of bathrooms are beyond disgusting and are not even able to be used (literally). Some of the tables in various areas are broken (like a group picnic area) and some have just sunk down further into the ground so that it's hard to fit your legs between the bench and table. I really wish that the park would be fixed up in those areas because it really is an enjoyable area.
I like to stop by Flat Rock Park to eat lunch when I'm in Columbus. It brings back memories of my childhood and my grandparents bringing me here. We would have a picnic and slide down the rocks. These days, I haven't seen much water flowing over the rocks and the park needs so more TLC, but it still has some nice benches to eat a bite.
This is one of my favorite parks in Columbus. There is a lot to do here. You can fish, run/walk, ride mountain bikes, dip your feet in the water (if it's not dried up), and best of all there are shaded playgrounds! The bathrooms are not all that great though so be prepared.
I walk the two miles around the park almost every day. The park is a beautiful natural park with a road that goes around a ten or twelve acre lake. There are bike trails, a frisbee course, two playground areas for the kids and the Fall Line Trace is easily accessed at the rear of the park. The creek that feeds the lake cascades over a rocky area that kids love to play in. There are picnic tables interspersed throughout the park, though many of them are in poor repair. The road through the park is a one way road and it is very poorly marked. There are four or five totally blind spots where a head on collision is inevitable if someone is going the wrong way at the wrong time. It is irresponsible of the city not to properly mark the road.People drive far too fast. The speed limit is 15 but it may as well be 50. There really needs to be some speed tables interspersed around the road since there are often small children riding bikes. Evidence of this recklessness can be seen by the many trees with collision scars on the curviest part of the park road. The park is very poorly maintained. They periodically work the shoulders of the road but when it rains they wash out badly again. There is almost always a park employee riding around the park but serve no real purpose. i came upon two guys loading gravel into their pickup that the road crews had used to fill one of the many potholes on the shoulder of the road. I started to call the city when a parks employee drove up in his marked car. He chatted with them for a few minutes and drove off. The guys continued to load their pickup with the gravel. It was a curious moment considering how badly maintained the roads are and how much gravel is needed. The parking at the spot where the Fall Line Trace touches the park is rough. Very rough. Most people park in the woods adjacent and walk to the trail. The rest rooms are in extremely bad condition. Vandalism is a real problem and they do attempt to keep them at least functional. But they need some new modern restrooms.Even with the bad, its still a great, natural park. Just watch that the kids don't get run over and ride bikes on the Fall Line trail instead of the park road. I highly recommend it.
This could be a REALLY NICE park if they kept up with the maintenance. There are huge rocks that produce waterfalls, there are places to BBQ, trails to walk, lake to fish in ... but it seems people aren't always the best guests and litter the place up. The bathrooms aren't as clean and some trails are just overgrown.Still, it's worth a visit and maybe the city will get together a clean up crew that will really make this park stand out above the rest!
Went for a walk around the park this morning with a friend. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Just a great place to get some fresh air and exercise and take in the scenery!! I have taken my bike on the bike path with my husband and enjoyed that as well!!!
I went to Flat Rock Park for a birthday Party. Because of all of the rain, the water flowing over the rocks is really good this year which makes it very pretty. It is a nice place to cool off for free. There are grills throughout the park for a picnic and a pond for fishing.
This is a park that has a stream that runs over rocks and proceeds to a nice lake. It has 1 building you can reserve for gatherings. Cement picnic tables and out door grills are scattered throughout the park and all are located under beautiful pine trees.Sadly, the Parks and Recreation Department doesn't maintain the park as it once was. It is still a nice place, just not as nice as it used to be.
They have 10 miles or more of lovely walking, jogging, and mountain bike trails. Such a beautiful area.
