This was an absolutely awesome trail ride on a very personnel level. The horses were matched to the rider and the trailguide was most helpful and kind
Who says you cannot write your own reviews? If you are a horseback rider or maybe you just want an awesome experience, than our cattle drive is it. This is not a nose to butt trail ride. The first part of the cattle drive is hide and seek. We hide them on 60 acres of Sonoran desert and you have to find them. It is not an easy task. Once you find them you'll have to herd them through the desert following where your trail boss takes you. You will eventually end up back at the arena where you started. At this point, you will have a 10 minute break to rest your legs and for the baby calves to get a drink from their mamas.Once break time is up, I'll break you up into teams of two to four people. I'll start you off easy for your first cow. You'll have to go into the herd, get just your one cow and bring her up to the other end of the arena. This is when you get to go fast. We'll continue this again for both a medium and harder cow. On the last cow you will have a choice of easy, medium or hard. Everyone usually picks hard. This cattle drive lasts about 2 hrs from the time you put your foot in the saddle and when you step off your horse. You need to allow yourself three hours at the ranch for signing in, getting saddled up and then brushing down your horses afterwards (optional). You'll finish out your ride by feeding your trusty steed a carrot.I'll take pictures throughout the ride with my smartphone since I can get in the middle of the action with ease. I'll either transfer it to your phone by blue tooth, email or I'll burn you a CD before you leave. Someone has to have evidence of what just happened :)We also have private guided horseback rides for those that want a more mellow ride.Thank you for all your reviews! I remember each of your groups by your review and it makes me smile. Thanks, Kelly - Ranch Manager of Bumble Bee Ranch
We (family of 4 - kids 24, 21) signed up for their cattle drive on horseback while in vacation in Phoenix. The ranch is less than an hour from downtown Phoenix. It was a great learning experience and so much fun!!! It was a well organized and thought out cattle drive. The family that lives on the ranch and provides the cattle drives were knowledgeable and very friendly. The cattle drive is based on how much experience you have with horses and riding them. It was an interesting and awesome adventure!! I would HIGHLY recommend doing a cattle drive or just ride horseback here. Don't pass it up!!
Our party of 2 couples, 70 yrs. plus and total greenhorns, had a great time. Who knew what was meant by a cattle drive. We were very apprehensive as we drive up to the ranch. The drive ended up being a thoroughly enjoyable two hour ride in real desert country, finding and herding about 20 cattle back to the ranch and then "cutting out" 3-4 steers. Sounds difficult, but even we could do it. Ranch manger and hands couldn't have been nicer. My wife and I were really glad we had done this. Add it to your bucket list if you have the time and a little adventurous spirit.
Have a Bucket List ?? Is cattle drive on it ?? If so sign up for the 2 1/2 hour cattle drive experience at Bumble Bee ranch. No experience needed. My wife and I and another couple did this recently w/ ZERO horse back riding experience and we are all in our early 70"s. Wrangler Kelley provided instruction, encouragement, took pics, and along w/ her husband and ranch hand Rodricco , provided a unique experience. First we had to go out on the range and find about 20 "doggies", round them up and then escort them back to the corral where we had to "cut out" a few of them for simulated branding time. Great fun. The ranch is located about an hour north of Phoenix.
