This was our first visit and we were very pleased with this venue. Nothing is far from the stage. Acoustics & lighting were fine. The performance was very good. We will go back for additional shows in the future as we found this to be a terrific spot to see a show.A couple of minor drawbacks...seating is in chairs arranged in rows. They are marginally comfortable. Had the show been much longer, they would have been an issue, but for this show, they were acceptable. Also, there are no food items or coffee for sale. Water was available.
Thanks so much for your 5 star rating, and positive comments. We hope you have been able to see some of the many fabulous touring artists we have had: Maria Muldau, John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, David Bromberg, Jimmy Fortune, The Grascals, John Doan’s Christmas Show, Rosie Flores, Shawn Phillips, Laurie Lewis and Tom Rozum, Red Molly, the Steel Wheels and many others. Regional Favorites include: R Carlos Nakai, Marshall Trimble, Acoustic Eidolon, Arvel Bird, Hans Olson, Walt Richardson and International touring acts: Ordo Sakhna, Chirgilchin, and Patrick Ball. We have enjoyed a variety of art forms including music, dance, film, dramatic plays, comedy, spoken word, and lectures. Our Summer closure, mid June (not April) – mid September, comes from a variety of reasons. Northern Arizona has a huge number of venues that come alive for Summer concerts, and supporting them is important to us. Many of our patrons leave for the cooler climates of Northern States during the Summer and attendance dwindles. And our lovely vintage theater only has an evaporative cooler, so on humid or high temperature days it can be uncomfortable for many of our attendees. The intimacy of our 140 seat audience assures everyone has an excellent view of the stage, as well as the opportunity to experience our excellent acoustics. Tickets are always available weeks in advance on our online ticket sales, and in our local outlets at least a month in advance. Our enthusiastic volunteer staff is always accommodating, gracious and knowledgeable. The volunteers sign up for each event, and in general, no volunteer is turned down.To learn more about OTCA check out our website.
Old Town Center for the Arts is one of Arizona's best kept secrets. This is our second visit and both shows have been amazing and the venue charming, welcoming and warm. Will definitely return.
Having played several shows here myself, and seen many others, I have to say this is the best place to perform or to see a show in The Verde Valley. The owners are the nicest folks you could meet anywhere. This place is a treasure, and deserves support from the community and the travelers coming through. If you visit anywhere in the Valley, make this a priority!
We attended the KUDOS Folk Festival - a gathering of local Arizona music stars. The centre does many other cultural events & Cottonwood appears to have a good set of community groups to go with it.
Have attended shows here several times, and In fact performed in one put on by Harmony On The Rocks, (in which I am a member and lead singer) the Sedona chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. This is a great venue, small and intimate. Max audience is just over a hundred people. The building is a former church that has been adapted to a performing arts center. The variety of shows is great, and the ticket price is well within anyone's range. I highly recommend a visit. The theater is located in Cottonwood AZ, just south of Sedona.
This is our second time attending the Bob Dylan Birthday Tribute. We will go every year! This event is packed with one amazing artist after another, each performing, either solo or with others, two favorite Dylan songs. The selections span the Dylan catalog, and as yet, Dylan hasn't attended, these are musicians who lived the Dylan era, knew him, or somehow rubbed elbows with some part of the Dylan DNA. Come prepared to be dazzled and wowed.
I have attended many musical evenings and matinees including belly dancing by local teachers/students. This is a friendly venue.
Concert venues offering performances and entertainment in music, theater, comedy, and performing arts in Old Town Cottonwood, Arizona.
Every evening spent at Old Town Center for the Arts has been a special one. The performances have been outstanding. The volunteers have gone out of their way to be helpful. I have been very pleased that they have been able to keep the cost of performances well within reason. Thank you OTCA for being here.
My wife and I live in NEW YORK CITY and have often frequented Broadway plays and or musical venues from LINCOLN CENTER. On a recent trip to Arizona, Friends of ours treated us to an evening to superb entertainment At Cottonwood's OLD TOWN CENTER for THE ARTS. This place is the real deal!! The town may be small, but this home town gem, founded and run by a renowned musician with the help of a willing and friendly volunteer staff, holds its own for professionally produced entertainment. When entering the beautifully restored building You are treated to lighting and sound applications that complete the total experience. When visiting Central Arizona's Verde Valley, This is one place you don't want to miss!!!
We have attended a number of concerts here, and found each one delightful. Great venue, professional and courteous staff, and great acts. We are lucky to have this in Cottonwood.
I had the opportunity to attend a recent event at Old Town Center for the Arts. The staff was very helpfull when asked if I could have an asile seat as I had a bad knee and needed to stretch my leg. I was greeted by warm, friendly welcoming smiles and treated with professional courtesy. This venue has presented some of the best quality entertainment offered in the Verde Valley for a reasonalble price. I look forward to the next event.
We have been to a few events. The venue is great and a flash back to theaters of the past. Not a bad seat in the house. Do not expect the staff to be helpful and welcoming. They are very uppity and spoil the event. Ticket prices are stiff, but they do bring in great entertainment.
