Course is very nice. Over the past 5 years i have probably played 20 rounds or so. When i first started rounds would range from $45-60. Now they are $80-100. Depends on the season and now the economy is back so the prices have been raised. I dont believe it is $100 a round course, maybe in the $70 range. Anyways, the copper tees offer a real challenge to a 12-15 handicap. Fairways are always pristine. The greens were a bit shotty and bumpy this time around which i have never seen before. Clubhouse is small, but the food is great. They have a wicked happy hour currently from monday to thursday (4-7 i think). I recommend this course to my friends if they travel to the phoenix area.
Estrella is a very solid example of desert golf for a good price. We were able to play with carts for a rate of $99. Well bunkered around the greens but not much in the way off forced carries of the tee of any significant distance. Staff told us that it was not generally as windy as the day we played which made it much tougher. Perhaps the only drawback is that it's a pretty tough course for handicaps over 20, especially when the wind blew. Drink carts came by with decent regularity. Our group of 8 misfits enjoyed the course and the small, but comfortable clubhouse bar where beers were modestly priced at the end of the round.
10th time at Estrella MR Golf club in last 10 years and it is still as good as ever. Fantastic layout, Brilliant facilities & club house, Superb staff and organisation and tremendous value for money. ( only negative is that I have to fly 5500 miles each time I want to play there - can't really criticise them for that tho !!!! ) Hats off to Trevor FInton and the team at Estrella - see you again next year ( ps - when I tell people in the UK about this course I'm sure they think I'm making it up ! )
Always loved this course and the staff are always very friendly... Not a course full of pretentious golfers, and challenging. Not the hardest course but scenic and tough enough...the staff really do make not fun and are always around to help.
Pretty basic public course, few good holes, a lot of pretty ordinary, but priced accordingly. Condition also pretty average.
Nice golf course but still too pricey. Club house is less than desirable and the service is weak. Surprised people drive that far out for satisfactory services.
Great service, terrific value, course is varied in terms of each hole has a different look. Challenging from back tees. Worth the trip.
Had fun playing this course. Not easy or too hard, but challenging enough to make it a nice challenge. Only down side was 30 mph winds. Bunkers were in nice shape. Greens were fast but playable. Hotdog and chips were tasty. Would recommend anytime in the area you should play it. Good value at $45
Fantastic track in beautiful condition. Could be the best sand I've ever hit out of in the bunkers. Unbelievable deal! $119 for 36 holes, a dozen crested pro V1s and lunch. Wow! This is a can't miss track if you are in the west valley. A fair and challenging test with some fantastic holes including some very challenging Par 3s. Course was in immaculate condition and pace of play was fast at about 4 hours. Played this course for our 2012 golf trip too, but it was in much better condition this time around. Will definitely be back.
It was recommended to us that we play here, and it was well worth it. The course is a Nicklaus layout that has wide fairways, deep bunkers and challenging greens which were fast. The views are beautiful with the mountain backdrops. The staff was very friendly, and they made us feel welcomed, prices are mid-range for the Phoenix area, and they offer discounts to community residents. Great course that offers a good place to play and enjoy your day of golf.
Fun Nicklaus layout that offers wide fairways, deep bunkers and challenging greens. Views are beautiful with the mountain backdrops. Fairways are in great condition but greens are a little bumpy. Bunkers well maintained. Golfers of all skill levels will enjoy this course. Staff is very friendly. Pro shop went out of their way to accommodate our family. Junior golfer friendly to say the least. If you have a golfing family this is the place!
Not up to the standards of WeKoPa or Grayhawk but still for the money a good course. Not a lot of elevation changes. Good starting course to work out the kinks.
The Golf Club of Estrella is located in the private community of Estrella Mountain Ranch in Goodyear, AZ. A challenging course with beautiful views of the Estrella Mountains. The Golf Club restaurant is small, but adequate for warm weather alfresco dinning. Prices are mid-range for the Phoenix area, and they offer discounts to community residents.
Food was great and service, they cater mostly to golfers and it's sort of out of the way for the general public.
Enjoy the desert views and the drive - far SW area of PHX - desert oasis! Good elevation change on some holes and forgiving desert target golf too. play numerous times and about 1 hr from my home.
