Our family of 6 from England booked an afternoon kayak trip with Robert, and had a fantastic experience. The surroundings are amazing, Robert was friendly and knowledgable and everyone had one of the best days of our trip. We loved the emerald cave and swimming in cold cold water from a secluded 'beach' was the best.We saw hardly any other people - just us, the lake, the cliffs and the sunshine - magical.Take suncream, camera in a waterproof bag, water and snacks. No experience necessary, this isn't challenging kayak but it is great fun.Robert sent us lots of photos of our trip and interesting information about the area too, we can't recommend him highly enough.

I did 3 days of kayaking, hiking, and bicycling with Kayak Lake Mead recently along with other clients. So I had ample opportunity to see them in action in a variety of situations. They are really great and I had a blast so I thought I’d take the time to do a review – not something I usually do!To begin with, I had never kayaked before – but Robert and Druce quickly had me up to a pretty good level of competence so I was relaxed and having fun! I’d expected it to be much harder so this was a fantastic surprise. The scenery is incredible everywhere you look – and being in a kayak gives you a perfect viewpoint of areas you probably can’t see any other way! Robert is a world-class adventure athlete, but he is also a patient and enthusiastic teacher at all levels. He’s clearly teaching and guiding what he loves – and from his many great stories he’s been all over everyplace in the area. So he’s great at picking scenic shortcuts, photo opportunities, etc. based on how you and the day are doing. He took me hiking several places that I thought were going to be boring - only to turn a corner and see an amazing box canyon, etc. NEVER would have seen these places without his expert guidance.Their kayaks are the real thing, not like some of the other stuff I saw out there. Basically with them you get the real thing at all levels…

I am in my mid 50's and love to seek out things and places most travelers might miss. I was organizing a group tour for college friends.... Some have kayaked for years others for the first time... Some hiked Angels Landing in Zion the day before some, are slightly adventurous ,some not at all ( We had to agree they wouldn't have to paddle to get them to agree to go! And shopping is their only form of exercise) So I thought had quite a task at hand to find he right company...I like to research at least the top 4 companies before making my decision. In fact being the most adventurous of the group my husband and I went on Evolution Expedition's kayak Hoover dam last week which was fabulous...(this company does not service the Hoover dam) and as wonderful as that experience was Robert Finlay's gentleness, experience guidance, knowledge and I could go on and on made our tour over the top... Being a perfectionist I set the bar high...I have travelled and experienced many outdoor adventures world wide and Kayak Lake Mead is clearly OVER the top!When I booked Robert he was very patient and warm in answering my questions and I ask many!!! He spent a lot of time listening to my concerns and desires and asking questions himself.... The other groups private tours were much more expensive and very inflexible! It is clear that he's very safety conscious in that he arranged since we were a larger group to have an additional guide with us, his son Druc. They both made sure that they paid attention to each one of us and provided each of our group of 9 many "pearls" to take away with us! Whether it was his kayaking tips, historical tips, geographic, life experienced tips... This was more than just a gorgeous kayak trip In a historical setting... it turned out to be an amazing bonding experience for a group of special life long friends that far exceeded my expectations! It is clear that making this a personal experience catered to you is extemely important to Robert Finlay... He loves to take pictures and I can't wait to see what sends us...Whether you are one person or several this is the tour for you... He doesn't provide food or transportation but he will provide so much more In a way no one else can... I look forward to coming back to custom make a new adventure in places we haven't yet gotten to explore ...he will take you to places the others won't.... But only if you want to... The experience is in his hands for you to mold! Go for it you will not be disappointed!!!
