Wear comfortable shoes for the short walk in. Peaceful and beautiful. Free but takes donations. Lots of little places to sit tucked into the site.
This was truly one of the most peaceful places I have ever set foot in. As I walking up to the park and Stupa itself, I thought "THIS is why people come to Sedona." There's a peace and a calmness here that I did not find ANYWHERE ELSE in Sedona. The vortexes didn't do much for me, but Amitabha Stupa & Peace Park did! I am so glad I made this a part of my trip and would go back again just to visit this high-vibration, soothing place. It was also very easy to find (right off one of two main highways and then one more street up) and provided the peaceful introspection and reflection I needed. This was honestly the highlight of my trip to Sedona (and I'm not Buddhist) and I would recommend this truly sacred space to anyone looking for a quiet place to rest, reflect, and be inspired. I feel honored to have been able to experience it. Peace to all!
Came to Sedona for a healing/yoga retreat. I came each day to meditate and pray. It is such a spiritual and peaceful place. Please respect those that are meditating and praying. It's not an amusement park.
We visited and found the experience interesting and peaceful. We walked around the stupa and visited each area.
We first walked to the Stupa to see the sunset. We are renting a home very close to the Stupa and now hike to the Stupa every morning to reflect on the day ahead and send a prayer to those in need.
Although off the beaten track, this space of solitude and contemplation is an ideal retreat from the normal tourist hustle and bustle and a welcome respite from the comercialized core of Sedona. Situated on the edge of a residential area, it's a short hike from the road to the centre of the park. The path is a little under-developed, but that only adds to the rustic nature of this attraction.
This is a very peaceful and sacred space. Please be mindful of those who come here to pray or meditate. We witnessed parents allowing their children to climb all over the Stupa which would be like allowing children to climb all over statues, etc., in a church or other place of worship as well as remove offerings left by people despite signs asking for respect to be shown. This is worth the time to stop and visit.
Beautiful surroundings. The trail up could use some... minor improvement/definition. My guess is they leave it close to natural to stay in harmony with the idea of the park. But a little leveling and grooming. That is the only negative I can think of about the place. It is peaceful and worth going to. Take your time, plan to sit and relax to take in the energy for awhile.
This is another gem in SedonaIt will require some hiking to get to the StupaLovely place to mediate or simply sit and pray
In 2004 the Amitabha Stupa in Sedona opened to the public. Buddhist Stupa's remain rare in the Western world. The sacred building of the 36 foot high spiritual object, surrounded by the Red Rocks of Thunder Mountain, was supervised by a Buddhist Rinpoche.Buddhist see stupa's as a living presence of the Buddha which radiates blessings of peace and prosperity to the whole surrounding area. You can walk around the Stupa, preferably a number of times, requesting healing, mediating, or sending prayers.
I've been to Sedona several times and this place is a must visit every time. There is no other place I've been to that gives me such a centered, serene feeling. It is in a beautiful location at the foot of the red rocks, in a residential area, yet secluded. You don't have to be a Buddhist to feel the spirituality of the site. I love to visit the Stupa and take the time to meditate. I always feel so much more at peace and happy when I leave there. I highly recommend a trip to this sacred site.
This place had been recommended to me by a fellow travelor to Sedona while I was shopping at the Criystal Magic shop. She encouraged me to go and if I did go, suggested I take a few crystals to offer up when going (very good advice).Park at the base of the hill where the sign to the stupa is and plan about 30 minutes to explore the area and make sure to read the signs which direct you to walk around the stupa 3 times while thinking about your intentions. This is the kind of zen experience Sedona is known for and I would definitely recommend it as a stop to anyone going to Sedona.
I enjoyed visiting this sacred site. It was so interesting to see the Stupha and it was just a short walk up a trail from the parking lot so this could be one of many stops made for the day. It is worth checking out! I can't believe I have been visiting Sedona for over 9 years and haven't been there until today!
Whatever your spirituality or religion or none this is a stunning site and location to visit. If you don't follow Buddhism please walk around the Stupa to the left and say your prayers or meditations. The scenery is outstanding and serene. Just sit for awhile and quiet your mind and see how the magic of this place fills you. You will soon be smiling inside and feeling so loved.
Serene and welcoming. Short hike to area. Wanted to come back to leave an offering but the New Year's snow kept us away. Loved the idea of this park. Don't miss it if you are in Sedona!
