We were lucky to get to the point by sunrise. The view really made me cry because it was sooo beautiful, breathtaking, magnificent. I don't have much to say because when you see it, you find human vocabulary is too limited.
You have to drive here as the buses don't go this far. It is our favorite vista. Listen for the rapids from the Colorado River! There are other pull offs on the way to this point which are well worth a few minute stop.
I only give this 5 stars because there are no bad views at GCNP but there are other stops that have better views and color of the canyon. This is the area that had a hotel back in the early days and was one of the very 1st places where there was a viewpoint back in the stagecoach days. If you walk out to the end of the point there are great views looking left and right...the canyon surrounds you.We went in late December when you can drive your car to the viewpoints and this is highly recommended since this time of year when less crowded - but be prepared for cold and wind.
Me and my girlfriend have visited three view points but this one was definitely the best !! When visiting grand canyon you have to stop by on this one !
A truly outstanding view! Grandview trail takes off from this point into the Canyon. This trail is not for anyone who is afraid of heights or has balance issues. It is very treacherous in places. For experienced hikers though, it's a maginificent trail into the Canyon, full of wild flowers in the spring. A nice day hike down to Horseshoe Mesa and back, or on to deeper Canyon destinations. The point offers good views in all directions.
Loved the view; amazing from this viewpoint, a must if you go to the Grand Canyon. Clean and traffic moves smoothly
The hike on the Grandview Trail, descending from Grandview Point, placed us midway down the canyon with a great view of the river below us, and the canyon walls above on all sides. The Horseshoe Mesa was a great place to camp out. We love learning about the old mines and hotels in the area!
This viewpoint, about half way down Desert View Drive, was one of my favorites. It gave a beautiful vista across the canyon to the North Rim, although its views weren't quite as wide as those at Hopi Point or Desert View, my two favorites.
This is yet another amazing spot to soak in the views from an awesome natural feature on earth. GCNP offers many stunning scenes to see, and Grandview Point is definitely worth lingering for some time.
The first major stop after entering the Desert view entrance. Probably the best view of the entire canyon.
No words can tell you about such beautiful place. You can set and watch around the changes of the colours with the change of light.Seat and watch and ....
This trail is not as heavily traveled as the South Kaibab or Bright Angel trails. We started out very early in the morning heading to Horseshoe Mesa and didn't see another sole on the trail for a few hours. The trail information warns that this trail is steep and it is. The trail to Horseshoe Mesa is about three miles and changes elevation approximately 2500 feet. I highly recommend sturdy hiking shoes and about three liters of water. The sights were amazing and the old mining area was interesting. It took us about seven hours round trip to hike and take pictures along the way. The scenic overlook at the trailhead is one of the most popular (other than the one at the visitor center) so get there early to park if you are going to hike the trail.
This point is one of the highest points in the Grand Canyon and so you get great views. The drive here is lovely too and there are spots here to have a picnic and a walk.
One of the Best view points in the Grand Canyon, only can get here by car, Grandview Point and Desert Watchtower are well worth the stop if you are coming to the Grand Canyon from the East
If you don't have a lot of time in the park I recommend this viewing point, this was the most scenic of all.
