the Peaks are a great place to hike in sprin, summer and fall. Pack plenty of water, sunscreen and snacks and you can go all day!
We decided to annoy our sat nav & took the minor route to the Grand Canyon skirting around SF peaks park. Humphreys Peak is always in view, even from the Meteor Crater East of Flagstaff.
Such a great place to visit! Make sure to head into the park to see the lava rock and appreciate the beautiful sights it has to offer!
Even though we didnt go up any peaks, we went around and around them. Snow on top made for some great pictures no matter what angle you took them from. Must see!
We love the peaks, visit every time we make it to Flagstaff from the East Coast. Oct is beautiful with field and mountain sides all lite up with the yellow aspen. There is always a hike we'd like to do and of course one can take the lift up to the top. Remember you're above 12,000 ft when you hike at the top, breathing becomes more labored, at least for me. Lovely hike which is also filled with history at the lower level, as well as the Aspen hike at around 10,000. Just a pretty drive if you just want to motor. It's the icon of Flag......
Visible from all over Flagstaff, these peaks lend a western feel to this upscale college town. Lots of hiking and mtn biking trails abound on these peaks.
Locket Meadow is my favorite hike in Arizona. There are stretches where you are completely surrounding by Aspen as far as you can see. Just spectacular.
Beautiful mountain in a beautiful city. Take the lift to the top of snow bowl for a great view! There is a restaraunt with a patio at the ski lift area.
Summer hikes, fall color with the aspens, and winter skiing -a true outdoor playground. We love the Kachina trail and Aspen Corner in particular.
Went accessed trailheads via the Snow Bowl. There are plenty of options from easy to strenuous. Parking was easy and trailheads not hard to find. The views are magnificent. We met lots of locals and visitors on the hike and all were friendly and helpful.
Stayed in Flagstaff and looked out to the San Fransisco Peaks and the sunsets were amazing. During monsoon season we watched the t-storms come thru the mountains almost on a daily basis.
Was really pretty but the ski lift was not working the day we was there really wanted to go. But the view was something to see
Beautiful sight from every angle. Ultimately the largest landmark in the Flagstaff area, always useful in maintaining your location reference point when traveling in the area. Surprised to learn that the area between the peaks is a volcano caldera.
Beautiful! We don't hike so we did not take them in that way. However, you don't have to hike to enjoy it. The view is worth it!
The chair lift ride was great and the view would have been too if not for the forest fires. Toilet at 11500 feet! Was very frustrated not to be able to hike from top of lift and heard others expecting to hike too. but noticed new sin saying no hiking at top once I was down. this is to protect flora.
