For a break from the downtown, a short drive down Senator Highway took us to Goldwater Lake. Nice parking areas, playgrounds and walking trails to enjoy the ducks on the lake. Very peaceful.
Since this lake is in the National Forest, it is a little more wooded and rustic than some of the lakes closer to town. But there is plenty to do and it makes for a great place to get away for a picnic or a little fishing.
We had a nice mother's day picnic at Goldwater. Sat at the picnic tables, had lunch, then did the nice hike around the lake. We were too late to rent canoes, but I'm sure that's a lot of fun!
The recent upgrades to the play areas in the park are fantastic. Our 5 year old grand-daughter loved the swings, the climbing/sliding frames, and the teeter-totter. The views through the trees and across the lake are more than worth the visit and the $2 entry fee. Well done Prescott City Council.
for a photographer, this small lake hidden in the mountains is pure joy! gorgeous! great for kayakers too!
Nice little lake for kayaking , always clean. Plenty of parking and free on Wednesdays to get in. Play area for the kids, toilets, trails to hike on and ducks to feed
Another small lake that is close- in to downtown Prescott. Nice lake area for a short hike. Was busy in the picnic area on our Saturday afternoon visit and several people fishing along the lake trail. A side trail leads off to a longer trail (396) that takes you away from the busy lake area and into the pines. Very quiet along the 396 trail (to get to the 396, head south up the hill near the dam where the lake juts out; there is a wooden bridge nearby)
We have been up here many times in the years that we've lived in Prescott. Birthday parties, picnics, special outings with friends, geocaching and just plain getting away from the city. While the water goes up and down it is fun to take our kayaks and paddle around. Access is free on Wednesdays.
Saw a bald eagle perched on a pine tree. Perfect and serene small lake. A must see when in Prescott.
excellent trails - easy to follow, well signed, well maintained. other cyclists and hikers all willing to stop and get out of the way
We drove on a street full of lovely Victorian homes, then up the road to Goldwater lake. It was a quick afternoon jaunt to the lake, but we ended up sitting on a bench in the trees watching some fishermen, some hikers and a cormorant looking for dinner in the afternoon sun. Truly relaxing.
Tucked away and only minutes from downtown Prescott. There are picnic tables, gazebo, playground, docks, & boat rentals. A great family friendly place to fish or boat!
This lake is a must do if you are visiting Prescott! It is nestled in the Prescott National Forest and it is absolutely beautiful. Walk some of the trails around the lake and you will see the true beauty of the Forest.
Love this small serene lake and the trail that you can walk. Last time we were there, we feed the ducks, walked the trail and saw two deer!
