Hualapai Mountain Park is located just south of Kingman, AZ. The cool mountain air and forest of pines is like an oasis in this desert area of Arizona. Just want to enjoy a beautiful 15 mile scenic drive up to the park and picnic? They got it! Like bird watching? They have a good assortment of birds including pinion jays, hummingbirds, hawks, and warblers just to name a few. Wildlife? We had a few mule deer walk in front of us not 20 ft from where we were picnicking. There was some albert's squirrels running around to. Although we did not see it, we could hear an elk bellowing. We came here mainly to picnic (there is multiple picnicking areas), but were told that there are ATV trails along with hiking trails. They have cabin and TeePee's for rent, along with an RV camping area and tent camping area. The temperature was a atleast 20 degrees cooler in the park then down in Kingman. There is a 7.00 daily fee, but it is well worth it. I believe that the park is closed in winter, and you may want to check prior to visiting if your traveling to make sure there are no fires in the area. We had taken the grandkids with us, and they had a blast exploring the area and enjoying the coolness. This is a must see.
