It is worth the drive from Kingman to see this. It does remind me of yesteryear as a young man. Some neat items sitting around to take pictures of.
Nice guy, plenty of nostalgia to check out. We loaded up on drinks and snacks and a few souvenirs. We walked around the yard for pictures and a look back on things from yesteryear. Was a great stop!
Take the time to travel Route 66 from Kingman to Seligman, AZ. The road is all historic Route 66. The road is in great condition and easier to drive than I-40. Along the way and about 20 miles outside of Kingman is the historic "Hackberry General Store". The store can be found right on Route 66. This store was once a cafe and you will see some of the original soda fountain inside. There are huge amounts of Route 66 memorabilia inside and outside the store. Wander around outside where there are lots of older cars and signs in various stages of decay. The 1956 red corvette sitting in front of the store makes a great photo-op. Stand outside looking back at the store and imagine traveling on Route 66 during the 1950's and 1960's. Inside the store are lots of Route 66 items to purchase, many that you will find nowhere else. Ice cream and other snacks are also available. The store owner will likely be behind the counter. You might even be offered a free cup of coffee. This is a one-of-a-kind stop that shouldn't be missed.
Cute place! Lots of old historical pieces outside. We had rushed to get here before they closed and were so glad we did. We had a friendly welcome and there was lots of fun Route 66 merchandise to purchase. Be sure to give Max the dog a pat on the head.
We only been there once since its a drive but the one time we were there the service was good and food was very good and it's got a pleasant atmosphere. Will go back there when we in hackberry again.
A short 20 minute drive from Kingman on old Route 66, Hackberry General Store is a fun and historic destination for kids and adults. The owner has done a wonderful job in preserving a piece of history with the store, and he offers up interesting, whimsical artifacts and souvenirs for everyone. Ice cream and snacks are also available. Take time to explore outside the store, where old cars and other Route 66 nostalgic relics abound. I walked out closer to the road and imagined those who used the highway decades before, those who stopped in Hackberry for fuel, refreshment and a rest from desert heat and dust, on their way to a new life and new opportunities. Hackberry General Store offers both a fun and reflective look back at American life on the mother road and is well worth a visit.
Great store. If you like Route 66 you will love Hackberry. Better than the normal Route 66 tourist stops with nice stuff for sale.
amazing place full of history, don't miss it, give the restrooms a visit too, they are awesome. There is so much to absorb don't be tight on time spent there.
Our last visit to Hackberry Store was was January 2015, but we have been visiting there since 2000. Great nostalgic stop on the Mother Road. You must visit the restrooms for the full photo opp! Lots of souvenirs, but most are not the same 'ol souvenirs you find at every other place on Route 66 that sells souvenirs. Take time to wander around the property, take lots of photos and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Great place with nice owners and a nice dog, too.
Great photo area with the cars, gas station items...nice people running the shop...fun items to remember route 66
Between Hualapai Hotel and Kingman is some of the most classic Route 66 road and the Hackberry Store is classic Rt 66.A great photo opportunity, and with a fun store.. Check out how they decorated the bathrooms. They have some great local items for sale as well as the normal gift shop items.. But the metal cutouts, the great strands of cut stones stand out. A fun enjoyable stop with a great dog.. Don't miss it on your Rt 66 drive!
We were traveling Route 66 and we would loved to have gone in but It wasn't open at 4 pm when we stopped. We took pictures of it and surroundings.
Pick up any travel brochures in Oz, and some sketch, or outline of the Hackberry store plus corvette will be featured. Route 66 comes alive.
If you're going to be in the Kingman, AZ area the Hackberry General Store is a must see. If you're traveling between Kingman and Flagstaff I definitely recommend taking the old Route 66 route that goes from Kingman to Seligman. It adds hardly any time to your drive, but it takes you past cool stops like the Hackberry General store. The light is great for photos at sunset.
