summerfield farm and zoo

This is a really nice, clean local zoo with a wide variety of animals from domestic livestock to exotics. There's a lovely gift shop, lots of employees to make the experience complete. Like others, I disagree with being forced to purchase food, particularly if you are not able to eat what they provide or have small children. All in all a good experience.

Had a nice visit, enjoyed seeing and interacting with the animals until we got yelled at for feeding our 2 babies food we brought in (apple sauce, goldfish crackers and Vienna sausages) and not the junk food (nachos, candy, ect)they sell there at the concession stand (the 4 adults did buy hot pretzels, ice cream and drinks). We spent well over a hundred dollars on entry, feeding the animals, food and in the store so for them to yell at us was quite uncalled for.

Wednesdays and Thursdays are discounted so we decided to venture over to Summerfield Zoo. The staff was very knowledgable about the animals and I liked that they rescue most of the animals. Definitely make time to watch a presentation, which is also hands on. Presentation is part of zoo admittance fee.

The kids were recently at Brookfield zoo and I told them before our visit to Summerfield zoo that this was going to be a smaller zoo. Knowing this, they were not disappointed. We went on a Wednesday and we all got in for $5 each. Then spent another $16 on 18 tickets. Tickets are used for the petting zoo (1), kid or lamb bottle feeding (4), and pony rides (4.) The website states most of the animals are rescued and we were happy to contribute. The website also has a list of items the zoo needs. The animals don't mind freezer burned meat. The kids also enjoyed the "Baby Animal" presentation. The pony rides were not rushed. The staff member introduced the pony, let the kids pet nose, and took two full laps pausing for photos. I was impressed. If you live in the area, I would highly recommend Summerfield Zoo, it is close, inexpensive, and good family fun.

We brought our animal loving two year old here. Many of their animals are rescues but there's quite a variety! Lemurs, bobcats, hyena, zebra, camel, monkeys, as well as reindeer and farm animals. They even had wolves with 4 week old pups. They're going to a zoo soon, so better hurry if you want to see them. We got to pet, hold, photograph them. They do an animal show and tell a couple times a day. We got up close to a baby alligator, hedgehog, cavi, porcupine, bearded dragon, and wolf pups. We ended up spending about $40 there for 3 people. This included admission, pony ride, food at the petting zoo, a bottle to feed baby goats, and a snack/drink for our toddler. I don't feel bad about this as the zoo has tremendous expenses to feed the animals. All were in good shape send the zoo was clean and well kept. The only negative about this place was that there's only one porta potty for the puplic in the whole place! We had a great day here.

Summerfield Zoo is not huge, but they do have a wide variety of animals. Children can view animals easily as it is not super crowded. They do several "shows" each day. It was nice because we got to hear about a variety of animals, and most animals were brought around for children to pet and view up close. Summerfield Zoo has limited hours and days. June-August they are open weekends and Wednesdays. Wednesdays this summer are $5/person. We drove right past it on our first attempt to find the zoo. The turn in is actually about .5 mile from where our navigation system led us.

My husband and I took our 7 year old son here a couple of weeks ago. They have a nice variety of animals......reindeer, wolves, goats, horses, peacocks, geese, prairie dogs, llamas, hyena, pot-bellied pig, monkeys, rabbits, and a lot more that I'm sure I'm forgetting. Many of them are rescue animals. They had a half hour presentation where they brought animals out for a closer look, including a baby wolf. We also got to watch the staff bottle-feed the baby goats. Everyone there are very pleasant!
