Perfect place to let littles run around and have some hands on exploring! There is plenty to do and see. Admission is a reasonable costs to where you don't feel like you have to spend all day to make it worth your while. We were here last almost two years ago & it's still just as well maintained with the addition of new exhibits.
We try to go the children's discovery museum each time our grand daughter is here from out of state. A safe place for children to play, learn, use their brains and learn skills. The activities are always changing and always interesting and hold the child's interest. I love this place as much as our grand daughter does! The employees and volunteers are always pleasant and helpful. The place is always clean, bright and cheerful. I love how they have boxes placed around so if your child puts something in their mouth, you drop it in the box and it gets sanitized prior to another child playing with it.
Our granddaughter loves going here -- it's hard to get her to leave. Admission is very reasonable. Lots to do!
This is a great place for children to play and explore. The climbing exhibit is a hit. Plus they never tire of feeding the cows!
We've been to children's museums all around the country, and with the exception of Indianapolis, this one in Normal, IL is one of the best. It's a gorgeous building, right in the middle of a bustling downtown area with cute shops and dining. The museum's exhibits are very well maintained (no ratty bits or 'closed for repairs' sections) and they get new exhibits (large and small) a couple times a year. Our son is now 8.5 and he still enjoys going, although he's nearly outgrown most of the stuff. Their store within the museum is quite good -- lots of learning games and toys for all ages. They just recently added a kids' 'makers' space' that we're excited about, since it is great for the older kids who may have outgrown many of the other areas.
I went here with my nephews and they had a blast! They played for hours! Fun and clean, and nice staff!
This is a small Children's Museum and therefore cannot compare to Chicago or Indy Museums, but it's good for the area for younger kiddos. My 7yo, who has been to the bigger museums, got bored very quickly. It looks very big from the outside, but it doesn't have a whole lot going on in the two upper floors.
I took my grandsons there, and we were amazed at how many different things that they had for the kids to do. The employees were kind and very very patient with the lil one, I think it was great, I don't have patience for kids like that. It's wonderful that they have a place to burn off energy when the winter months come. Unlimited amount of staying time Thank you!
This is one of the best childrens museums that my daughters have been to. The bottom level is geared toward the younger crowd, but the 2 upper levels also have things for the young ones. This is a newer museum, so it it hasnt been worn down from too much play. The only amtrak train station is right next door, so you can watch the train stop and the people get on and back off again. The only bad thing i can say is that the parking is about a block and a half away, but it is free parking, so i cant really complain about that.
If this is the first one you have ever visited you will love it. Plenty of hand one activities for the children in various fields of interest. It can be as entertaining to adults as it is children. If you have visited attractions like this in the past it may feel as though it is falling a little short. Still worth going to kill a day though.
not enough parking close to the Museum. Children have to cross roads. Other than that I think it is an awesome place to visit
My 2 1/2 year old son had a ball here! So many exhibits to let him explore and try new things. It was a very safe and clean environment as well. We could have easily spent an entire day here. We will be back for sure!!
Children's Discovery Museum is a fabulous destination for young families. My kids have always especially enjoyed the 2-story climbing structure (something of an architectural and engineering marvel), the water-play area, and the painting walls. The top story is devoted to the arts, complete with an adorable stage, costumes, ticket booth, sound and lights booth, etc. CDM puts on a variety of special programs throughout the year, too, including science nights, dance parties, special performances (the Twin Cities Ballet sometimes visits with costumed characters), and more! Check out their great gift shop before you leave, or make it a shopping destination on its own.
This is a really great place for the kids to explore and play. It has three levels. There are interactive games and displays on every floor, arts and crafts on the top floor, music making ideas, a full stage with costumes to play dress up, a puppet theater. On the second floor there are things to learn about the environment and farming. On the first floor they have a dentist chair, a full lab to play doctor, a pizza van for delivery, a kitchen, water games. In short, it's a great place.
We travel to Bloomington at least twice a year to visit family nearby and this is, by far, the highlight of the trip. It only costs $7/person and you can leave for a meal and come back the same day without having to pay twice. My 3 children LOVE all of the activities, and we've been to alot of museums and this is one of the best--the one in Atlanta, where we are from, is terrible compared to this one 3 floors of activities and each one is great--for families with children, this is a hit!
