anita purves nature center

I am a mentor. I took my mentee to Anita Purves Nature center and she, and myself, loved it. They have many "hands on" experiences with drawers packed with different natural items. There are even interactive videos to learn from. We learned a few things. They had 3 owls in a cage (that they rescued). An actual beehive too! Without a doubt, your children will learn and love this place!

I really enjoyed looking over the displays. They even have some screech owls! The hands on area for kids looked fun as well. I plan to bring my granddaughter back here so she can see the puppets and displays they have on hand. They also have a small gift shop.

An inspiring place for nature lovers from tiny tots to elderly folks. Bird walks on Sundays in spring, seasonal nature walks and much more. Above all, a free Urbana Park district facility maintained with great care. Not to be missed during your visit to the Chamapaign-Urbana area.
