We were on a fast trip to the Chicago area and it was freezing cold. We wanted to do something special with my toddler grandson. This is the perfect place for young children. It is educational and fun. The museum employees are very nice and the museum is kept very clean. My grandson really loved it and we enjoyed watching him!!
I often visit this place with my son who loves this place. He especially likes the water theme. Pretty big place with plenty stuff to keep the kids active. They have marts where they can do little shopping with the little shopping carts. They have a music room where they can play drums and xylophone. I highly recommend this place to parents with kids.
I took my kids, 5 and 2, here over the weekend. Overall it was great for kids their age... not sure how much older kids (over 7) would really get out of this but for younger kids it was nice. But this is a cool place to take them out for the morning. The Kohl Museum has several parent experiences brought down to kids size... like grocery shopping at a "Whole Foods" or having lunch at a "Potbelly". The kids love getting to do the things they see their parents do. There was also a "Library" and a "Pediatrician's Office" among other things. There was also a water room (with smocks/dryers) for the kids to splash around even if it's cold/snowing out. They had a small music to try out instruments and create their own music. Lastly, my son spent a ton of time in the building room... they had Legos, small blocks (wood and cardboard), and big foam blocks to build with. I loved having a Cosi on-site for lunch. Try to go early/late if you can as it fills up. But the kids' meals for under $6 and they got a ton of food/drink for the price. If you want to head over to The Glen that's an option to as it's right across the street and there are several dining options there. Just get a hand stamp before you head out the door.I went to the Chicago Children's Museum late last year... to me that was a better, more robust experience for the kids but both are great when it's cold or your kids have to get out of the house. Just depends I guess on where you're coming from.
What more can you say when you have a great outdoor area, and all the best play areas indoors? Kids love the grocery store, bus, climbing areas and changing exhibits. So fun to watch them touch everything they can.
One of our favorite places to go when visiting our grandchildren in Evanston. Excellent interactive exhibits for children to explore and learn. Great place to fill hours in a child's day. Safe and understandably always very busy.
Take your children or grandchildren and visit this museum. It is a family owned place and is very classy and sophisticated. It offers unlimited opportunities for kids to grow , learn many skills and practice their life experiences. It is expensive but worth going anyway. You can try to get tickets on Groupon or livingsocial for a half of the price. Good luck.
Take your kids to this museum. It's smart, educational, interacting and engaging. Kids can learn important skills that they will use in their future lives. We've been there many times and it is always fun place to be.Tickets are expensive but you can buy them on Groupon or other promotional sites.
This marvelous museum allows children to observe, interact and learn with parents, grandparents and peers. There seems to be exhibits and activities for every interest and all ages. Grandparents can get involved or observe and enjoy the excitement.
We live nearby so we have yearly passes and my grandkids would go everyday if it was up to them. It really is a delightful place and fun for both kids and parents/g'parents. Very interactive and educational. Even my 18 month old grandkid is occupied for hours! And my 4 year old is in heaven. The area also has a great commercial street call The Glen with super shops, restaurants and movie theaters.
My daughter enjoyed visiting here but it is pricey for young kids. They don't offer discount pricing for homeschoolers. It is hands and kids love it. Parking was free which is a bonus and there is a cafe in the building, however we didn't eat there.
Best parts of the Museum are the restaurant and the outdoor park area ( with things to find lists). Many displays inside are hard for children to work, as they just don't have the strength they demand. It's very difficult to build a great Children's Museum, and Kohl again confirms that.
The Kohl Children's Museum is a great place for young kids to spend an hour or two. There are so many things for them to explore here and it always seems new to them!
Kohl's Children Museum will keep the kids occupied for hours. It is a museum that teaches kids about science and the world around them in a way that truly engages them and entertains them. I remember going to this museum when I was a child and it was in Evanston...I believe. Now in Glenview, the museum is so much larger and offers so much for kids.
This is a pretty average children's museum, which I think would be fun for kids up to about 8 or 9. It had a grocery store, animal hospital, baby hospital, water play area, home building area, reading area, potbellies restaurant, and probably a few other things I've forgotten. It seemed a little expensive for a suburban kid's museum, and it wasn't as nice as the one at Navy Pier, but parking was definitely easier.
I went with a 9 yr old and two 10 year olds. We went on a Monday morning in mid June. It wasn't overly crowded. The kids were able to interact and play with all of the exhibits without waiting. Although there were several activities that were focused at toddlers (mock grocery, potbelly's store, etc.) there were enough activities that were engaging for kids up to about 10. There was a play ground and an indoor place to eat lunch as well. After about 2 hours the kids were wanting to have lunch then leave, but they all enjoyed themselves. It could have been a bit less expensive than $11 each no matter the age.
