This really is a nice park it never gets so busy that you have a hard time keeping up with your group. I still hate that the Jackhamners change their name to the Slammers. I do understand why they did it, but I May always refer to them as the jackhammers. They do have a lot of good food here.
What a great facility, as nice as some of the double A and triple A parks I have visited. Too bad the ownership sets it sights so low with the product they put on the field. Otherwise, a typical small town ball park atmosphere and food that you would expect.
We saw the Slammers and Cartoon Network was there. So my younger kids had a great time. Also there were a lot of mascots at the game. It was very entertaining. Lots of things going on while the game was in progressed.
Had a great night at the ball park! I'm a huge baseball fan though, so any night, at any ball park, would be a great night. JL Bird, their mascot, came and sat next to me. It's a great looking stadium. Very fun and enjoyable evening!
This is an incredible ballpark. Not a bad seat in the house. It is cheap to get in and the ballpark food is very good and has an average price. Plenty of on-field entertainment for the entire family. We go to a lot of baseball games and this experience ranks right at the top for getting your money's worth and having a great time!
Come one come all. (if your under the age of 27) I being 62 can't tryout. Sounds like a class action in the making. The ability to compete at a high level is my trademark. So hearing the age limit is pretty amazing. You see after fighting in Nam. I joined several teams and won several championships from 1974 through 1992. No longer able to compete due to family obligations. Putting food on the table. For a family of 5. Enabling them the chance to succeed.
We went the other day for a picnic/Slammers game for my boyfriends work. I was pretty bored and attendance was low. Although everyone's children seemed to be having fun with the mascots and the between innings events. So I would suggest it more for a place to take your kids than go on a date. It was aTuesday and they had $2 draft beers so that's a pretty good deal. They also have a good selection of ballpark food and have fireworks after some games.
We've watched a few Slammers games here. Good seats whether you want to sit in seats or on the lawn. There's room for the kids to run around and not be trapped in a seat the whole time. The food and drink aren't too expensive, but it's not too good either. We did the buffet on July 4th, and it wasn't worth the extra money and the line was long. We've never had a problem finding free parking a short walk away. Always felt safe walking to/from the car.
Fun for families, Buy lawn seats they are the cheapest. No one stops you from sitting in the seats and there is always plenty open.Because Milano Bakery is a major bakery in Joliet they toss rolls to the crowd.
Silver Cross Field is a great establishment. It is a great way to soak in the fun of baseball without paying the major league prices. Food and drinks aren't too overpriced here. And if you come on Thursdays, beer is dirt cheap. If you like watching baseball in the summer, I recommend stopping by this place for a game.
If you're a baseball fan this place is awesome. Great family fun, kids stuff, fireworks, etc. if you don't love baseball you'll still have fun. They've have food vendor changes that may need improving still as far as choice and price but you can find something. Beautiful park and very clean. Great prices to get in and not a bad seat in the place!
Silver Cross Field is a great place to enjoy baseball. The price can't be beat, from $6-$10 for seats. The ballpark is really, really nice, with a beautiful playing field. They have the best fireworks EVER on a routine basis. Silver Cross is very family oriented . They very often have special events and features, entertainment for kids. Parking is right around the park, and the police presence makes it very safe. Traffic is well controlled in the area. The ballpark offers many very good food vendors, they have family picnic area, box seats, lawn seats. What ever you could want is going to be there if you like baseball and the fun atmosphere of baseball fans. The pro teams charge $60 a seat, and sometimes are not much better players than those in this league. Give it a try!
If you want to visit a very nice ballpark that is above what you'd expect for a minor league team, then this is the place. Good and plentiful seating, a convenient downtown location and certainly reasonable admission price. You can even watch the freight trains rumble by if the game is slow.
I feel for the new owners of the Slammers. This place just does not have the atmosphere that the Jackhammers had. They do not do as much with the crowd. Because of low attendance a bunch of the food / drink stands close early. The food is not as good as when the Jackhammers where here and it is more expensive for the experience. A tub of cotton candy is almost double what it is at Sox park. Baseball is still good but the entertainment value just is not there.
Joliet is proud of this gem! Some don't care for the team name "SLAMMERS" but that is just how one looks at it! Instead of guys in the "slammer" (Joliet has its prison), think of grand-SLAMMERS in baseball!Entertaining and FUN!
