center for american archeology visitor s center & museum

It is very clean and has some nice displays. Not a great place for kids but teens and up can really appreciate it all. They also have an active dig you can visit and ask questions. A must for any history buffs!!

My granddaughter, who wants to be a forensic anthropogist, and I attended the June 18 Family Dig Day. We learned a lot - how to correctly excavate, plot artifact finds and keep accurate records on our dig site. The museum itself was small, but interesting, and the archaeologist and the summer interns were experienced and shared their knowledge and stories about the site and archaeology.The interns were very nice and discussed various college programs with my granddaughter.We had a great time, and she is now even more interested in pursuing a career in anthropology.If you ans your kids or grandkids like history, Native American culture or just like to discover things in the soil, this is a great place.Family dig day is limited to 15 people, so book early.
