I took my 2 boys, ages 11 and 14 . . . this was the first time for all of us. We did the night tour and it was awesome! The guides were so great and patient with the kids while having fun with them at the same time. I was scared to death but by the 3rd zip line, I was comfortable I was in very good hands and now we are all hooked. We can't wait to get back and try it during the day. It was a little tough walking through the trails in the dark but after a while we got used to it and the guides had flashlights so it wasn't bad after we got used to it. I would HIGHLY recommend it. Loads of fun!
My daughters, ages 8 and 10, and I went on the 8 zip tour. I had never zip lined before and was glad to find that I felt totally safe and secure. At Zip Chicago, the guides are very much focused on safety. Zip lining is definitely a fun family event and one that I would strongly recommend. I loved the fact that there was a little hiking in a peaceful terrain from line to line. I also very much liked the varied zip lines as well as the "racer". One noteworthy item - if anyone in your group is under 100 pounds they may not make it to the end of every line. This is not a cause for concern, but just know that they may not make it. My older daughter wished that fewer people were on our tour (we had 10). I found the number appropriate. Zip Chicago is about an hour or so outside the city. We would definitely Zip Line again. We would definitely Zip on a course rather than a single line. Lastly, I would Zip again at Zip Chicago.
My 80 year old parents wanted to experience zip lining after I came back from Hawaii and told them of our great experience at your coarse in Hilo. We took advantage of a 3 generation outing and had a great time! The zip lining itself was great! The sites below the coarse, the noise of the 4 wheelers and smell of diesel made the coarse less than perfect. Also, there is a lot of hiking that is a bit strenuous for the older adult. There should be some information on your broacher/website regarding this fact. Although the zip lining itself is great for all ages, the hiking is NOT! Definitely worth the drive out to Marseilles.
In my "Older Years" on my birthday this year, I wanted to experience life a little faster. So I took my 14 yr. old grandson from the Western Suburbs of Chicago and we Zipped through the trees and raced over the parking lot and had a blast. Even though it was 80 degrees, the trees kept us cooler while we hiked from location to location experiencing new heights of skills. We took the longer tour and both agree the 2nd suspension bridge was great! The two guides Amy and Dannie were great and encouraging our group of 11 of all ages, weights, heights and skills and we all had fun sharing our experiences and racing on part of the course side by side. I would recommend this for all ages young at heart.
This was part of our itinerary for a visit to the Chicago area. It was also my first experience of Zip Lining. They have 2 Zip options - the short one has 2 zip lines and the long one has 8. There are 2 suspension bridges of increasing difficulty on both. We did the short one, and this review is based on that. What I Liked1. The guides friendly and professional. 2. The experience of zipping was amazing! 3. One of the children in our group was scared to go and the guide handled the situation very well. He went on to enjoy his first zipping experience too.4. They take care of hooking you up and braking etc for you. You may not like this if you are an experienced zipper, but as a first timer, I didn't mind not having to worry about that bit. What I didn't like:1. We were told that we HAD TO report a half hour before the start time or our registration would be cancelled and there would be no refund. This was so that we could be geared up and instructed by the guides and could start ON TIME. Since we were staying an hour's drive away, we rushed through breakfast to make it on time for our 10:30 registration. Only to be told there was a "mix up" and the guide didn't know she was working that day. It was past 11:30 when we finally started zipping. Considering I had chosen the short tour only to be able to do more things in one day, I wasn't very happy about the delay. They didn't even really apologise for wasting our time.2. The website says they have a ratio of 12:1 people per guide, which makes you think there will be at most 12 people in a group. Our group had 15/16 people! This made for really long waits on each platform, none of which were big enough to allow that many people to stand comfortably.Overall, we definitely enjoyed the experience of zipping. I recommend :1. Wear clothes that wont get in the way of wearing the harness etc2. Definitely take your camera, but make sure you have a way of securing it to yourself (strap etc)3. If like me you get hungry quickly, plan for unexpected delays like ours and bring a snack. They do sell water and soda on location, and also have a vending machine with snack bars and chips.
Planned a group trip here for my daughter's 16th birthday & the kids had a blast. For most it was their first zip experience and it was exciting. For me, I hung back and took some great photos as they started out of the building and finished over the parking lot. Reasonably priced because I bought the tickets prior to May when they were running a special. Overall, great day!
I think because I have zip lined in Alaska before, I'm a little bit biased about what a thrilling zip line course should be. The scenery is just average; nothing memorable...but that's what you have to expect for it being Illinois. There were 8 lines and two bridges to cross. One zip line is 1,000 ft. That one is the longest. If you are looking for a zip line experience where you have to put in zero effort as the participant, then this is for you. They personally put you on every zip line, and even break for you. For me, that kind of takes the fun out of it...I'd prefer if I could at least do the breaking myself. The maximum group size was 12 people. Everyone in my group thought that was too large. Much of the zip line excursion is just standing around, waiting for others to go and waiting for it to be your turn. Personally, I think the group sizes should be limited to 6 people to make it less boring. I will say that the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. It's an alright zip line course. I'd recommend it for beginners or if you think you will never get the chance to do it some place very scenic (like Central America or the Pacific Northwest).
We visited zip chicago this summer and had a blast! The guides were very straight forward and communicated will with everyone including the small kids that were along for our approx 2 hour zip line experience. I would reccomend this place even if you are scared of heights as I am. Our guides were efficent, friendly and just all around a fantastic part of the experience. there are several lengths of ziplines including the "race track" whcih you get to do twice! Super fun for the whole family.
We had a great time at Zip Chicago. The variety of zips was perfect and the rope bridges were "interesting". Stacy and Amy were our guides and did an awesome job. If you go you have to do the full eight zip package. Two zips and the bridges would not have been enough. Would highly recommend this for any family for a fun couple of hours outdoors.
We had a great tie zip lining! Our guides were helpful and witty. We had never zip lined before it was a great experience. Be prepared to hike a bit between lines and were bug spray!
