The sculptures outside were the best part of the visit. They were in the front and the rear of the museum displayed very well
Lakeview Museum was the best at it's former location on Lake Ave. Small building but had awesome exhibits and new exhibits rotated every couple of months. It's no longer there and has moved to the Riverfront where it's disappointing now. Very large building and less things to look at. Parking is not free anymore like it was at it's former location! Poor attendance records show loss of interest. Once you've seen it you won't go back. Museum should not have been moved, it was doing well attendance wise where it was. Always free parking made it great!
Very nice museum with events and displays for the entire family. Great gift shop and always top notch displays.
It's been years since I've been there, but the kids & I enjoyed it. They had a lot of cool, interactive displays.
My grandkids love to go here. They enjoy the children's section of the museum and the gift store. My grandchildren also took art lesson at this building. Very happy with the classes.
I thought this might be an interesting thing to do, but was pretty disappointed. A few kiddie hands-on displays but not much else of interest for adults.
For a small museum there is quite a bit to see. If you are expecting a big city museum you will be disappointed but staff here is friendly and helpful. A good place for children and seniors.
The facility is moving downtown Peoria. It will be nice to see what is offered and if it still brings different exhibits throughout the year.
Learning made fun and exciting. From the hands on section to the featured section of the museum, all is an adventure.
A very nice local museum. Hosts traveling exhibits frequently. Wonderful gift shop that is great for finding Christmas and birthday presents.
A small museum - just the right size so you don't feel overwhelmed or exhausted. I've seen a Chihuly exhibit there as well as other quality work.
I was expecting there to be more to this museum than there was. They touted having the biggest model of the solar system but it wasn't obvious how to actually see it. There was a planetarium but you had to buy tickets for some kind of dinosaur show in order to get in there. The art/science part was a little disappointing. There was way more art than science. We found ourselves having the most fun in the kids area, which was the only area which contained anything science-related that we could find. The experiments and things in that area were very fun. Not sure everything was worth the price of admission.
Be sure not to take young children. We are always looking for things to do when we visit my parents in Peoria. We have been to lake view 3 times and each time, even though we are in the kids area, this crabby old lady who works there follows us around and tells the kids not to touch, make noise, etc. My children are very well behaved and I am always with them. It is always very uncomfortable. I would never recommend going if you have young kids.
The "regulars" are this museum are ok. Not a lot though. Small kids science area when hands on activities. Some of the traveling exhibits have been VERY GOOD--worthwhile to note what is currently here. The planetarium is VERY nice. Worth doing while you are there. It is a nice museum to have in a city the size of Peoria.
Support exibits and they will keep them coming. We are lucky to have such a venue in Peoria.
