Excellent history and displays of Oakland and Pontiac automobiles. This is an excellent small museum and very well presented. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. If you love Pontiacs you will love this museum. This is one of several small museums in a great small town that you will want to spend a day or two to visit all of them. If you can visit in the summer check the weekend events and you may have a nice weekend celebration to attend. If you have an RV either stay at the 4-H Park or Walmart. This is small town america at it's best! Several good restaurants around the Square.
it was OK but the Pontiac car was made in Michigan not Illinois and the Indian chief was from nowhere near here either some nice cars but I don't get the association
It was smaller than I expected but what they did have was very nice. We went the weekend of the Pontiac Car Show which was a bonus!
Another of the great museums not to be missed when in the Pontiac area. Owners are so nice. My husband and brother-in-law even got a ride in one of his antique cars. They are still drooling. :-)
I like cars, period. They have it all. Literature, memorabilia, and CARS. Always changing and never the same old thing.
Decided to visit Pontiac just for the heck of it and see the Route 66 museum/Livingston County War Museum and heard about this place. It's small but very nice more like Henry Ford Museum quality. The GTO's and pace cars were my favorite and the extensive collection of oil cans is pretty amazing. Quite a shame that such a storied auto brand is no longer around. There are several chairs for people to sit in for a rest. Brings back memories of riding in my grandpa's trans am as a kid!!!
Very unique museum, even for someone who's not that interested in cars. There was a good variety of cars and all had been restored nicely. There was also a video to watch while sitting in the comfort of a sofa for those who didn't want to walk through the museum. Historical records were located in one area of the museum for those interested in Illinois history and genealogy.Admission is free but donations are welcome.
Loved those 'GTO's, It took me back a long way. I wanted to drive one. No such luck. I had no dislikes.
This is a relatively small car museum, but all the vehicles are well restored and presented. There were good directions in the form of painted footsteps on the pavement from the main museum and the people in the car museum were very welcoming. It only takes a short time to look around, but is worth the stop.
One of the world's greatest collections of Pontiac and Oakland automobileartifacts.Antique and classic cars, printed items, car parts, original design drawings.Great hospitality. Very impressive. 205 North Mill St., Pontiac Ph# 815 842-2345
This place is really neat! In ireland we don't have any of these types of motors so was really fun to get to see them all up close! They have little Route 66 VIP packages inside too with a badge and it has really cool discounts for shops and restaurants around the town! It's an awesome souvenir that's completely free! Loved this place!
If you like old cars, this is THE must museum to visit in Pontiac.. They have several fantastic old Pontiacs in there. Wau, what a cars!! Also they have very interesting professional books there in case you are real car fanatic..:)
We were so surprised to see the impressive collection of cars and memorabilia in this wonderful museum. The friendly staff added to the experience. We would totally recommend this.
Our first stop in Pontiac did not disappoint. This museum is full of beautiful cars and interesting displays. Our teenagers were amazed at all there was to see. The staff was so welcoming and told us about many other area attractions. Loved it.
We really enjoyed this museum. The auto displays were so neat. The clerk was very kind and helpful, giving us VIP pins for discounts throughout Pontiac, and gave us tourist info on what to do. The gift shop was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
