I go every few months with two or three girlfriends to one of their teas. There is always a theme with appropriate complementary tea, scones, sandwiches and yummy dessert. chef Lynnette does a great job demonstrating how to make each of the menu items before they are served by the assisting volunteers. Take home recipes are included for the $25. Get on their mailing list for the calendar of events. You get 10% off any purchase.....and there are soooo many things you will wonder how you ever lived without them! They serve wine as well as selling it and wonderful cheeses. Lots of unusual herbs, spices, flavorings as well as sauces and dips. Cooking utensils, glassware, nick-nacks.....cool stuff!
I initially thought this was another "cooking utensil" store, like the giant wall in Bed, Bath, and Beyond, but I quickly realized this was a store for true foodies. The selection of items, and the quality of those items, are fantastic. If you're wanting to expand your skill level, and you're willing to invest in the necessary tools, this is the place. The employees are friendly and willing to help, and they provide services beyond the normal retail environment, such as cooking classes, knife-wielding classes to improve your implement skills, wine tastings, gift basket creations, and so much more. They were the only place to have a stock pot large enough to brine a turkey, and I went to them this Christmas to start my knife collection by replacing my Henckels with Wusthofs. The only complaint I have is about the selection during my Christmas shopping. After consulting with the staff, and making my decisions, I found out that I was actually purchasing 2 floor models since what I wanted wasn't on hand. They cleaned up everything, but I'm surprised that I couldn't buy unhandled implements.
Great for learning how to cook items and for trying different types of food in small portions. A fun time for all--I go ebery cew months for different items--get on their mailing list.
Great place to find that odd or specific kitchen tool. There always holding alot of different cooking classes that are fun with family and friends. Staff is always nice and helpful too.
My husband and I brought my in-laws here as a gift. We had such a nice time! Chef Barb was cooking a Steakhouse menu and everything was delicious. We had crab cakes, brussel sprounts, mashed potatoes, steak, and carrot cake (to die for). We sat right at the bar and could watch her prep and cook everything. There are cameras on as well so you can watch the TV screens to get a better view. The chef had severeal volunteers helping cook and serve. They serve beer and wine as well. The store itself it filled with fun gadgets and cooking accessories and wine. It was a great expereience and we will definately be back to try other menus and chefs!
This is a very large kitchen store that also has a trained chef co owner who does some of the cooking classes. On a recent Saturday wife and I joined a large group for a demo class on steakhouse fare. The place does both hands on and demo classes. Because of the group size we got to watch, pepper Dave with questions and eat the stuff he prepared and explained. Dave is a hoot and irreverent as all get out. For $55 a head we got a decent house wine. Blue cheese wedge salad, NY strip with twice baked and asparagus. He finished with a hot nut brownie desert topped with a salted caramel sauce. The store has everything for a kitchen and worth a visit. But if you want to have some fun one of Dave's classes is better than many dinner theaters we have done. The food is way way better and the comedy is entertaining. If you found this review helpful please click below.
My husband and I attended a cooking class recently as part of my birthday "it's all about me" weekend. We learned many tips and had a lovely time. Chef Dave is very personable and funny, and he makes you feel comfortable even when you feel awkward. Now my husband says he feels inspired to cook some more, which is the best birthday present that I could get! We'll be back! Here's a tip - register for your class early for a better seat.
One of our favorites has become cooking classes at the Rolling Pin! It is a great way to spend an evening, not only do we get tips on cooking but wonderful food, wine and lots of laughs! Once a month they have date nights with themes...we have done several of these classes and always have such a good time. This year they have brought in lots of chefs from the Food Network. What a treat to have in Brandon, Florida.
Went for a g/fs bridal shower over the past weekend and had a blast. We are already planning a couples date night to go back! There were 15 girls so to keep that many organized and on task Chef Dave was great! Food was delicious and I picked up on quite a few new skills! Can't wait to go back with my other half!
We have attended three of Chef Dave's hands on classes. Each one has not only been fun, but informative with useful tips for our home kitchen. Chef Dave makes the classes interesting and knows how to keep you enchanged. With the hands on, it's easier to take the recipes and make them at home. There is no hard sell of the products he uses during the class, but there is a discount to students on the day of their class. The prices for kitchen accessories is not cheap, but the products are high quality and worth the money.
Special classes and unique products found. Love the ceramic cheese knife as well as other kitchen items purchased. Also excellent gifts ideas for family and friends.
A wine bar and wine sales, cheese tasting and cheese sales, cooking classes for kids, couples and friends from renowned chefs. High end cutlery and pots and pans and all kinds of cool kitchen gadgets!
This kitchen store is jammed packed with kitchen gadgets for the home cook or baker. The store is beautifully layed out and the staff is very helpful. They offer many classes, some hands on, some demo only. Just be very careful of the prices. The prices in the store are generally high, so I look for sales. I bought some items in the "clearance" section of the store. They use a color coding system to let you know how much the clearance discount will be when you check out. (i.e. a yellow mark through the price may be 50% off and a blue mark may be 40% off.) The items I sellected were all marked 50% off. When I got home & removed the sales tags to wash the items I was very surprised by what I found The top tag with the clearance color was marked $7.50. But the tag just below that one was marked $5.50. In other words, the item was marked up from $5.50 to $7.50 before it was discounted!!! I should have paid $2.75 instead of $3.75. I do not know about you, but I do not like such deceptive "sale" prices. It really makes me wonder about all the other prices in the store.
