Excellent show! This production was of such a high standard, everything from the cast, crew and orchestra were superb. In many ways a better production than some shows we've seen in the London West end. Eliana (Eliza) is surely destined for fame on Broadway. Highly recommend to any theatre lover to catch this show before it ends.
In quaint Cocoa Village this beautifully renovated playhouse provides a venue for quality productions and local events. Enjoy an entire day or night out with local shops and a range of wonderful restaurants, ending with a show at the Playhouse.
Beautiful theatre with the feeling of stepping back in time. I thought the play "West Side Story" was done well with the 17-year old lead female giving me the chills with her amazing voice. Not my favorite play in general, but I loved the beauty of the theatre and felt the play was well done. Nice date night out.
when the producer announced they "had" to choose age appropriate actors, i had a bad feeling. i grew up going to broadway for the past 25 years. although im not that old i looked up the age of the original actors. the original 1957 'maria' was 25. 'tony' was 27. it is talent & experience that matters, not age. this cocoa village production was below par. tony couldnt hit certain notes, esp with the song maria. maria was off key at times. the dancing was luke warm. the musical score is meant to hit you in the face & with the orchestra being underground, it came out subdued & low spirited. BUT we also saw this musical in st petersburg fl at the palladium. they had experienced (older!) & very talented actors/singers/dancers. they wow'd you! the orchestra's music (on stage) hit you in the chest, which is what you want. it moved you! but this cocoa playhouse version was like a high school production. tepid.
We saw "West Side Story" and for the size of the Playhouse and the community they had a large cast with a lot of singing and dancing talent. The lead has a great voice and a wide range. This is really a community theater and you get a community feel when you visit. I am really looking forward to the next two plays we have tickets for this spring.
As always, clean, fun and a good night out with the spouse. Dinner at the black tulip then couple doors down the playhouse. Worth every penny.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Cocoa Village Playhouse. I have spent time in NYC and the product that is being put on at the Cocoa Village Playhouse comes real close and for 1/10th the cost. We are lucky to have the playhouse in our town and more people should come to check it out.I have enjoyed several shows but I especially appreciate being able to take our kids to the plays put on by the children. I hope one day to see my son or daughter performing on that stage. Its been months since we saw the Jungle Book and my kids are still singing the songs.Check out a show they are all amazing.
The old beauty (not you, Ms. Stacy) has been refurbished and it's FAB! The shows are cast with volunteers for the local area! They are on par with Broadway paid actors!!! See any show when you are in town!
We planned the perfect day. Leave Cocoa Beach at dusk after a great day of sun and surf, dinner waterside at Port Canaveral dreaming of cruises past and future, then catching the Christmas show at thee historic, restored Playhouse Theatre. What a treat! Packed house was entertained with some wonderful local talent.
We recently got back from New York and saw two wonderful shows. After 20 years in this area it was my first visit to the CV Playhouse and I will just mirror others. The local, the costumes, the talent was amazing and the value was out of this world!
I have been an avid theater goer for many years. I have seen plays from Broadway to Miami and have been a season subscriber at multiple venues. A friend of mine was acting in a play at our local community theater (Cocoa Village Playhouse) and invited me to come see his performance. I really wasn't expecting anything other than an average community theater play. Boy was I surprised! The theater is absolutely lovely (recently remodeled) but maintains the originality of the place. Because of that one performance I became a season subscriber and now am on my 3rd season. Just when I thought the performances could not get any better they continue to out do themselves. The director who introduces herself as the Drama Momma at each performance truly is a gift. I have never looked back to the professional theater. This theater is well into the professional caliber of what is found on the very best of venues. The average price for a show is $25 per person with discounts for seniors and students. You can't beat that for an awesome night of entertainment!
Anastasia, better known as the Drama Mama has done it again. If you are in town check this Playhouse out. If you are a resident get the seasoned tickets for amazing shows and talent that rivals NYC theaters at very reasonable prices. Miss Saigon was fabulous and I didn't see a dry eye in the crowd. Comfortable seats and nice wide isles. The orchestra was fantastic and the sound effects were great. The casts consisting of all volunteers, were equal or better then Broadway. I can't say enough about this Playhouse. Terry Botts
If you want to see a Better than Broadway Play, then you need to visit this playhouse. the newly renovated interior and seats only add to the fabulous experience you will have. The actors are all top notch, the live orchestra, Fabulous! Costumes and sets incredible. the directory Staci takes great pride in presenting professional plays from a community theater group.
The shows are the quality of professional theater, but the prices are that of volunteer theater. Season tickets (4 shows) are only $100 which is actually affordable! You have to go to a show to see that the professional quality of these volunteer performers!
Love catching dinner and a show here! They always put on amazing shows! Tickets are reasonable and usually sell out quickly! Make sure you buy them early!
