Fairly easy front nine I like that Back nine is a little more interesting. Decent condition Front desk people process tee times they don't welcome people (unless maybe you are a local). Still in all not a bad day of golf but I am not drawn to the place
This is a nice track. The course is usually in good shape, and it presents a challenge to the average golfer (most of us). Price is fair.
My first visit back after a layoff of about 7 years due to heart and cancer problems. What a change! I always liked the layout but now the condition is supurb! The front side is treeless and reminiscent of a links course.... and the fairways are just magnificent! The greens are beautiful and well grassed with few if any blemishes and the balls roll true to form... and a bit on the slow side the day we played due to heavy rain the night before. I like the changes in elevation all thru the course.... very unlike the typical Florida track. The back side is more of a wooded course with fewer changes in elevation. The fairways are lush but not quite the same quality of the front.... however.... well above many other local area courses. The greens, while not as lush as the front, are still excellent. We played in the morning and it was early August and felt like we owned the course. There were others playing, but all appeared to be spread out. Our only casualty was the golf cart died on the 15th hole... a quick phone call ( thank you cell phone!) and the pro himself was out with a replacement cart within 10 minutes! The course plays 6300 from the blues.... and 5700 from the whites.... with a senior set of tees at about 5300 and the reds at 4371. Ratings are 112 from the white and 103 from the gold. There is a restaurant located in the clubhouse with a limited menu but service was quick , friendly, and tasty as well as reasonably priced. Located just 45 minutes north of Tampa, this is, because of the quality, a must play track if you are in the area.
As advertised "one of the best kept secrets in FL". The course is both fun and challenging. The new owners have invested in the course and it is in beautiful shape. You'll find good deals in both the restaurant and the pro shop. If you are in the area give it a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed!
We had our tee time for 11:30. We arrived just before 11:00 so we would have time for hitting a bucket of balls before we teed off. We were using groupgolfer vouchers which gave us two for one drinks and the range balls as part of the deal. At 11:15, the ten o'clock tee time still hadn't reached the first tee box. We were told to go have our drinks before we played because there was a delay due to slow play in a tournament that went off earlier that day. We got into the cart line around 11:35 and we waited, and waited, and waited. We putted, and waited, putted and waited...Finally, at 12:45, we reached the first tee box. Needless to say, play took forever as we had to wait for two foursomes ahead of us at each hole. We complained to management and were offered no concessions of any type. We have played this course many times in the past and have encountered some SHORT delays in tee times, but nothing like this. We were very disappointed in the way management handled this situation. I would advise that if you are going to play golf here, and the course is challenging and in above average condition, that you call ahead on the day you are to play and see if there is a LONG delay ahead of you as management seems unwilling to make concessions for your inconvenience.
After reading information about it online we got there early so that we could practice at their driving range and putting green. Upon arriving you need to unload your bags at the starter office because they don't want carts in the parking lot. It happened that they had a crowd and we had to wait for a cart. Problem with this was that if you wanted to use the driving range you had to carry your bag there. Not something we were interested in. The putting green was small and had others wanted to putt it would have made for a difficult time. The carts are supposed to have GPS but evidently they don't have that in the red carts, which is what we ended up with. We found this to be a problem on the course because some of the holes were not marked correctly for yardage. We golfed with several guys that had been there before, they both had GPS and were able to give us distance as well as best place to drive your ball without having to take a look at the card. I found the back 9 to be much nicer looking and far more enjoyable too. This is a nice course but so many courses in the area that are far more desirable because of the hassle with the carts.
