its has a beautiful scenery to look out at and to watch the sun go down makes for lovely pics ,enjoy the fresh air off the water, but the power plant takes away from the natural beauty and who know what might be in the water being so close to it so i dont swim there personally.
Small beach area. White sand and a couple of open shelters for shade and eating. Nice pier with fishing opportunities. Beautiful for sunset viewing. Biggest turn off the huge number of sea birds and droppings especially in the late afternoon. Bathroom facilities, no shells found on the beach. Not crowded even on a nice day. On the drive to the beach (Fort Island Trail) scenic natural coast beauty interrupted by what looks like a power plant tower with steam/whatever coming from the tower - what a shame.
This is a very relaxing Beach to go to.The Beach is very quiet and not crowded...The White Sand is Clean and Beautiful. The water was very calm.Nice way to spend the day!!
This is a nice beach with good washroom facilities and picnic table sites. The sand is nice and white and the beach is relaxing with great views. The board walk and peer is a great asset, with nice places to sit and with excellent views. I saw 2 manatees swimming around the peer - it was the highlight of the day.
Peaceful and quiet. No seashells, but pretty white sand. Great place for kids with no waves. I explored the jetties. It was clean and pretty.
A very nice spot and tranquil. Get there early for a good free parking place. They also have a free boat ramp just down the street.
Found this fabulous little spot by accident. Wow so quiet and serene, just super. We drove up 19 for a Sunday drive, and turned left, and just kept going, what a great surprise. You will need to take all with you, There are bathrooms. great swimming hole and picnic spots with covers. No stores and no machines to buy things either. But oh so beautiful and the sunset is awesome. There is a boat ramp about 500 ft further and a fishing dock to walk out on. Just a fantastic little place.
Of course, it was February and shortly after arriving in Florida, we wanted a beach experience. This beach is not like what you might expect, but is nestled in the estuary/island/marsh areas around Crystal River. The drive to the beach is unique and interesting. The facilities are pretty nice, and the beach is small. But if you are in the area, you should visit. Great place for a sunset!
I am in a wheelchair and found that I could get onto hard areas of grass and enjoy the scenery. It is peaceful, quiet, serene, remote and beautiful.
We went looking for a little beach time and found this gem of a beach and it is free. It is by Crystal River. Number of people fishing nearby and lovely sand looking out over the gulf. Very pretty spot. I would definitely come back again
Our plans to canoe the springs were derailed one afternoon so we went to the beach instead. We wandered through the trails and out on the pier and were lucky enough to see a few dolphin and then went back to the beach itself for sunset. It was a beautiful sunset but we did need to break out the bug spray. My favorite picture is one of the sun at peak colors with all of the beaches birds nestling in for the night and each ball on the rope/boundary around the swimming area has a bird on it. It's great.
Come here every time we are down to Florida. Nice board walk out to fishing pier. Good boat launch also. Very nice and clean beach. You can see many different shore birds here washroom are clean. Only draw back dogs are not allowed on beach
This beach is secluded, has a great view and no amenities. If you want a quiet place to escape, this is a nice place to go. If you want fun and excitement, not so much. Bring your chair, your picnic and a book, take a deep breath and just relax.
There is plenty of sand and walking trails. There are amenities and very good parking. The drive is a little long, but the view and the nature are worth it.
FI Beach is the best place around to watch the sunset. Dolphins are typically just off shore. Very peaceful. As for a beach, the sea birds take over, lots of bird poop in the area reserved for swimming. Smells. Still, it has charm and mostly beautiful white sand (they just replaced the sand within the recent past). Sand spurs are plentiful in the grassy areas - so wear shoes. Nice place for a picnic.
