We were fortunate to get the last available RV spot for a Sunday night stay, for one night only. The ocean was just across the sand dune from the space we occupied, and right next to the restrooms, which was great since our class B RV is winterized. The restrooms were unbelievably clean and well maintained. I'd give an excellent rating if the spaces weren't so close together. The $22/night fee was incredibly low!Really enjoyed the beach the morning after our late-evening arrival. It felt like we were the only ones on the beach, and so nice to walk and look for shells. The only downsides were as I mentioned earlier we could only get a one-night's reservation, and it was terribly foggy both when we arrived and as we were walking the beach. Of course, as soon as we were pulling out, the fog was beginning to lift and I'm sure it was a beautiful day!
I thought the park was a bit over rated. It is scenic but one trail to hike and not much camping area. Best to park across the street with your RV so you can enjoy the ocean.
Just a dandy little beach where you'll always be almost all alone - My wife and family used Gamble-Rodgers Park Beach quite often, in season and outa-season - and it's almost like a private beach! Even in the peak tourist season, not too many people visit here - if you're not an Annual Member there is a modest cost per carful - the Rest Rooms are always clean, neat and never "...smelly...", the outdoor shower facility is also clean and well maintained. We find the covered, sort of a patio, just off the beach to be great for picnics - there are no commercial facilities here, or even near here, so you've got to bring whatever you'll need - but there is always plenty of space available and (except for the occasional sand flies) it's truly a fine family place to swim and enjoy the sun! room for trailers and RVs at minimal cost!Larry the B
HelpFather T (or anyone who can inform me) ---- would you please put a description of WHERE in the park the outdoor music is held on the second and third Saturdays of the month AND when to arrive? Is there a contact person?
This state park is divided in two, with RV sites on the ocean and check-in office, boat ramp and other facilities on the other side of the A1A. RV sites are small, especially past the shower/laundry hall. Odd-numbered sites are on the ocean but only four or five have ocean views due to vegetation. Just a mile or so from Flagler Beach town centre. Lots of access to beach, One caution -- sand is everywhere, even in the RV park. There is a day-use area with a nominal fee.
The park is 2 miles south of the town of Flagler Beach so the beach is uncrowded and lovely. You can bike along the paved path for miles with unobstructed ocean views. Kayaking is just across the road with rentals available. Several beach restaurants are within a short walk or bike ride. Some of the sites have ocean views but most do not, however it is just a short walk to several walkways to the beach. Everyone gets to hear the sound of the ocean! Clean restrooms and very friendly staff. Campfires allowed. Cool place!
If you want to hear some great outdoors music from a bunch of bluegrass, country, gospel pickers. Mark your calendar for the second and third Saturday of the month. Bring your instruments and join in. Great bunch of guys and gals having fun and free entertainment.
The beach side is amazing. The beach is really nice and pristine. Turtle Nests everywhere and it is great for bird watching. Lots and Lots of birds. Seas are rough, but Thats Flagler. Had a lovely time. Next day we returned to the park side. We went Kayaking. They rent a two person kayak for like 25 dollars for 2 hours. It was a very hot day, so we might have been a little bit crazy, but we did it. We had the whole side of the Intracoastal Waterway to ourselves. Lots of cool little places to explore. Crabs, Lots and lots and lots of birds, different ones than from the beach, flying fishes everywhere, you can see some nice and very expensive houses, and if you are lucky you might see a manatee, but we did not. In 2 1/2 hours of kayaking, we saw two boats. Yes. Private, Serene Waters. Loved it. One of my favorite parts of my trip.
Gamble Rogers was a wonderful campground to relax and enjoy the slight breeze off of the ocean. During our visit, we were able to set up our tent and then walk out on a sighting dock and spent some time admiring the beautiful coast that this campsite was sitting on.The workers around the property were very enjoyable and nice to deal with and they were willing to help you with whatever you needed. The site also had easily accessible bathrooms and showers, along with a washer/dryer station. This was nice because we had a water leak on one of our sleeping bags and were able to stick it in the dryer. If you are in the camping mood and in the Flagler Beach area, I recommend this campsite.Best wishes,Shaun
Nice place to put in a kayak and do some fishing, alot of picknic tables to sit at and nice restrooms and boat ramp.
As one reviewer said, I feel the park needs to put in a combination gate at the end of the park so those with dogs can access the beach where dogs are allowed. It is silly to make paying campers cross the road walk a longer way, in the heat, to find an access ramp to enter the beach with your dog. Some may not cross the street and try to walk on the ocean side with their dog, which is very dangerious. If they sign a paper at registration that tells them they must comply with this entrance only, and pick up after their dog, which Im sure all campers know this, then what is the issue? I don't even have a dog, but think this rule needs to go! This would give the park an excellent rating to me. Otherwise a great beach camping experience.Just call it Dog Beach Access.
Our first day there was stormy and the winds were very strong. I would recommend tent/pop up campers bring tie downs in case you experience the same. This is Florida so sun in the morning, rain in the afternoon is the theme during the summer. The sites and restrooms were very clean. The camp host was friendly and helpful. If going in the summer, bring an ez up or screen room to put over picnic table, you don't want to bake in the sun while trying to eat lunch. If you have a family and a lot of beach gear, invest in beach wagon. It is a long walk when you are pack muling gear from your site, down the boardwalk, to whatever spot you pick. The only down side to the trip was my 7 year old getting a fish hook through his foot while boogie boarding. I've been in Florida all my life and have never seen this happen until now. I ask all the fisherman that cut their lines when they are tangled, to think about the little boy who was playing in the surf when he was hooked. Please clean up the lines and hooks, trash is not good for anyone.
This is oceanfront camping. We stayed a night to watch the super moon. The views were great, the people very ice and bathrooms clean. The sites are not very private and no shade, so prepare to bring your own. Most people stay in a rv. We stayed in a motorcycle pop up camper and put up a tarp for.shade. It worked great. Our next trip I will put up a tarp on both sides of our camper and bring a fan for the outside. There was a nice breeze the day we arrived but woke up to the sun baking us on one side and there was no breeze on the beach or campsites.
The reservation system was simple. The staff were very kind and accommodating. The campground itself is gorgeous with easy access to the beach. This is the cleanest, most well kept campground I have ever seen. I definitely recommend.
Suggest walking before 10:30 or after 2:30 - it's hot under the FL sun! Even with shade from the trees.
