We walked thru this park during spring break. The park has great and access to the beach and plenty of parking. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked. You have plenty of covered pavilion and can cookout. And it wasn't crowded on a saturday. The only downside to our experience was that the coke machines were turned off and there was no where for anyone truly on foot to get bottled water to drink. Not nice!
beautiful white sandy beach!! lots of sunshine....; )...great place for a stroll or jog on the beach, very relaxing and peaceful....
This park is very acceptable from Hwy 98 and having a Walmart near by and 4 shopping malls close by as well
A wonderful public beach for the whole family. Pavilion for eating and showers to rinse sand off. Well kept area with clean restrooms.
A beautiful piece of nature in a tourist area and right on the beach, Henderson Beach State Park is a nice little diversion from the restaurants, resorts, and shopping so common to the Destin area. Sandwiched between a string of resorts, this area maintains its natural beauty and is a nice place to visit without going out of your way.I always try to visit at least one natural attraction everywhere I go and a recent visit to Destin brought me to Henderson Beach State Park. I know that Destin already has much natural beauty- namely the Gulf of Mexico and beaches- but I wanted to see something a little more unspoiled without concrete, high- rise resorts in the immediate vicinity. Henderson Beach State Park fulfilled my wishes and it was just the nature fix I was looking for. This state park does include more than a mile of white, sandy beach and some may want to visit for that reason alone. But there is more to this area than just sand and surf. There are several large, covered picnic pavilions and some public grills for your food- prepping needs, plus a campground for long- term stays. Drive over to the other side and you will find a kid’s play area and a nature trail. I walked the entire nature trail and found it peaceful and beautiful, loaded with subtropical plants, birds, etc. It was a little longer than expected and since you’re walking on sand, it does take a little more effort to walk along. But the experience is still worth it and one I recommend. As for the beach area, it was not only beautiful, with its powdery white sand and emerald waters- it was also exceptionally clean! I have to hand it to the park workers and volunteers. They have really done a commendable job keeping this area presentable. I also like how much of the sand dunes are roped off and kept off limits to tourists. This keeps them in their natural condition, which is much better than those at other parks I have visited, where tourists are permitted to roam about anywhere they like and end up flattening out or otherwise gradually destroying the dunes. These look natural and inviting, the way they should.Destin has much to offer and Henderson Beach State Park is certainly a place worth visiting. There is a small entrance fee, but the cost is worth it once you get inside and experience all that this park has to offer. The beach is clean, the crowds are thin, and the natural beauty is all around you. It makes Henderson Beach State Park a great place to pause for a few hours and enjoy the greatness of nature in Destin, Florida.
Great beach. The campground looked amazing even though we did not camp. The spots were huge and well maintained in lots of natural habitat surrounding the sites.
Beautiful park on a super great beach with great access. Clean facilities. Relatively small. The RV sites are mostly gravel. No sewer but a station to go to. Didn't have internet or TV.. Lots to see and do in the area. Great ocean views.Enjoyed a night and then moved to Topsail Hill State Park down the road.
Great beach, very nice clean camping facilities. Sites are graveled and well kept. There is a fair amount of privacy at most of them, as they are wooded and don't feel right on top of each other. Bath-houses were clean and stocked, etc. The only down side is hearing the traffic at night from the main road just inland. On a quiet day or night its a pleasant oasis, but if you are sensitive to noise it might irritate.
People local to the area around Henderson were previously allowed to receive free passes but now we have to pay which irritates me a little; however, I love the beach. There is hardly anyone there when I go which I love because I am not comfortable being around a bunch of people while wearing a bikini. Also there are no condo complexes for as far as the eye can see.
We were here in February so it was too cold to be in the water but the beach was beautiful. It has the fine, white sand that Destin is famous for and was great for a walk. There were picnic pavilions and walking trails. There is a small fee but well worth it.
Henderson Beach in Destin, what can I say? It is a well maintained State Park. The beaches are kept clean. The restrooms are plentiful and the picnic area is apart from the actual water with a view. I am sure your family will enjoy a trip to Henderson.
Wonderful place to see wildlife--on a hot day it's a hot place to visit and very sandy also. Beware of the ants!
Cozy dinning area with delectable food. It is a private atmosphere and you find your own private place of delight!
Henderson State Park is just 4 miles east of Destin. The park is easy to access, has a very clean and long beach, facilities and shelter. It is great for children, beach strollers and fisherman.
This place does not attract a huge crowd because there is a minimal charge for entrance/parking. If you want a relaxing day at the beach, this is the place.
