We took the tour of Al's family farm a few days ago and really enjoyed listening to the 2 ladies who gave us so much information. It's great to see a family farm still in operation that really cares about their customers. Also impressive was the Scripture verses in the maze at the OJ corral reminding us of our walk with Our Lord. I'm sorry we had another commitment and were not able to stay for lunch which we thought would have been a good deal for the money. We ordered a basket to send to friends back home and will be ordering more in the future. Really an enjoyable day for the low cost.
We went on a walking tour at this citrus place which was very informative. We got to watch the process of how the oranges are placed on a conveyor belt right out the containers that come from the orchards. They go through several different processes before they are headed to the packing. I wish we could have actually gone out to the groves to watch how they pick them but is is a safety issue I guess. The ladies who did the tour and explanation of the process did a good job. And we learned about the different types of oranges grown in this part of Florida known as Indian River citrus which is on what is known as the Treasure Coast. It is on the Atlantic side of Florida. We also got to taste several different types they process and pack. As well as tasting some of their OJ.The small store sells oranges, juice and a few gifts as well as some other types of products. Across the way is the grill where they serve food and beverages. The tour alone was $8.00 but if you wanted to purchase the lunch with the tour it is $14.00. We opted just for the tour because we had other plans to go eat. There is also a small outdoor area with a few activities for children to play but adults played too. At the end of the tour each person could choice a orange to take home from 3 different varieties along with a small gift bag with a ordering catalog and coupons. We had been here a month ago or so just to buy some oranges and juice so today we did only the tour. It is something I recommend to do for the experience of learning about the different oranges grown here and some of the other states that grow oranges. It's something to do that doesn't take a whole lot of time when in the Fort Pierce area
Hi! Thanks for taking time to write about your experience at Al's Family Farms. I wish it could have been a happier time for you and your dad. The description of our tour on our website, brochures or on Tripadvisor is that it is a guided packinghouse and wash-line tour. We never mention seeing the juicing process, although we do make fresh squeezed juice here at Al's Family farms. The main reason we do not allow public access to our juicing operations is that we comply with public health regulations. We operate a safe, "clean room" with fiberglass ceilings, stainless steel, sanitary floor mats, rubber gloves, head coverings and special training in food safety. As mentioned by other reviewers on Tripadvisor, we feel our tours to be value priced. They are meant to be a fun day out learning all about Florida oranges. Sorry we did not meet your expectations.

Glad to hear you enjoy our fresh squeezed orange juice and find it to be a value! Remember the days of the old fashioned creamcicle? Our famous Sunshine Shake reminds folks of that.
